Forgot to say, I heard from the hospital yesterday. All my tests came back, all the insurance is ready, so unless something happens, I'm all set for next Friday. I won't find out until Thursday though, what time my operation is. I hope it's early. No matter what time you're scheduled for, they tell you not to eat after 12:00. I had an operation scheduled for 2:00 once. I was so hungry. I don't see why, if it's an afternoon operation, you can't get up at like 4:00 am, and have a good breakfast!
Having some experience in such matters, I can speak to the "why" of the nothing I your mouth after midnight" policy exists.

Quite honestly, it is a safety thing for YOU the patient. When you get a general anesthetic some folks actually throw up when the breathing tube is being placed just before the actual surgery begins. If the stomach contents get into the breathing tubes and you take a breath (quite instinctively) the stomach contents can go straight into the lungs and to be honest, that can be what some folks call "a show stopper" and I do mean forever!

I know we seem to have a lot of rules in surgery, but as they say in naval aviation, those rules were written "with blood"
Hope I wasn't too graphic for you but your safety is the most important thing!

I know why they have the rule, but it's the same no matter what time your operation is. And, that's that part that makes no sense to me. OK, maybe it does. I'm sure that there are people out there if they're told they can't eat after 4:00 am, they'd figure that it was OK if they didn't eat after 5:00 am. So, to make it easy, they just tell everyone midnight. And, that's why I want it early, rather than later. Even though I'm up at 5:00 or so, normally I don't eat until around 9:00. If I have the operation later in the day, by the time it's time, I'm starving!

My knee has been hurting more and more. Yesterday, in spite of the pain, I was able to roll out a RB for the horses (tractor wouldn't start and no one else was around). That was NOT fun. This RB was about as tall as I am, and at first, I couldn't get it to move. I had a Bible verse come to mind, not an exact quote, but if you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you can say to this mountain be removed, and it will be cast into the sea. So, I found myself praying, Lord, this isn't a mountain, but I need to be able to move it. Next thing I know, I have it off the pallet, and am rolling it across the field! I didn't get it where I had planned on putting it, but figured where I ended up was as good a spot as any. Then, I was able to get the RB feeder up on it's side, and roll it over to the RB. I couldn't wait, it was cold out and the horses had almost no hay left and I had some errands to run. But, that's about when my knee started to hurt.

I ran my errands, came back, gave Stormy his 2nd feeding and left. I had forgotten my leg brace and just wanted to get home and get off my leg. Once home, I grabbed a bite to eat and relaxed until I was able to walk. Then, I went out and worked on wood. I started on all the stuff I have scattered in front of the wood shed. Some is completely green, that went in one part of the shed. Some is partially seasoned. That went in another section. The rest was completely seasoned. That went in the house. Only problem being, once I had that cut, I didn't even have enough for overnight. Right about then, my hubby came out and got out the log splitter! It's leaking, so he refilled it, checked to be sure it was working OK, and went back in. I concentrated on the wood that I figured was seasoned, and was able to get enough to last at least until tomorrow. I'll be getting a whole bunch of wood then. RU says I can go back in her woods and cut some.

I would have worked longer, but I had to get ready to go out w/my brother. But, the dinner was good, just long. It was close to 10:00 when I got home.

This morning, was cold! I get to the farm, go to close Misty's stall door and can't. A big chunk of mud had frozen solid in front of her door. I tried to break it off, and couldn't. :barnie So, I had to guard her door to make sure that neither Licky or Honey finished first and kicked her off her feed. I'll be so glad when I'm finally able to get everything done. It's supposed to be a bit warmer tomorrow and Tuesday, so I may be able to get that chunk of mud broken off.

From there, I went to church. And again, I was early. But by then, my leg was really starting to hurt again. When church was done, I shot straight back to the farm, fed Stormy and left. By the time I got home, I could just barely walk. We were supposed to go to my MIL's today. There was just no way I could. She lives in a 2nd story apartment. I could just barely get up our stairs, let alone hers. Plus, hubby wanted to do a ton of shopping. I HATE going shopping w/him. Plus, w/my leg, there was just no way. So, I stayed home. I got a nice nap and did some research on the computer. I'd love to have a small wood stove in my tack shed, but the only ones I can find that are the right size cost about $1000. It's just not worth it for that kind of money. I also read some, and in general, enjoyed the peace and quiet. I'm going to be all out starting tomorrow morning. I still have a ton of stuff to do, and only 4 days left to do it. I don't want to hear a word from my hubby about what all I'm doing.

I'm starting to really feel the pressure of what all I need to have done by Friday. But, my living room is clean. I got a whole truck load of wood out of RU's woods today. Only problem being, I tripped when I was getting it, and managed to put a hole in my hand. :hit And, I couldn't stop working, so it looks kind of dirty. Guess I'll go do some dishes to get the dirt out.

I still need to do the following:

Finish cleaning the kitchen.
Clean the bathroom.
Finish cleaning the bedroom and rearrange it.
Get as much wood done as I can since I KNOW no one will do any while I can't. If I have enough ready, as long as someone can bring it in, I can keep the fire going.
Make 3 more pots of soup.
Get all caught up on the laundry.
Clean out my tack shed.
Put something up around the vents to keep the heat in.
Vacuum the whole house on Friday morning, and put clean sheets on the bed.

Some stuff, I know I'll get done. Some, I'm not too sure about. I'm really starting to feel a bit nervous as to whether or not I'll be able to do it all.

Depends on what they find when they get in there. Best case scenario is 2 weeks. That's what I'm hoping and praying for. Well, I gotta go do some dishes!

2 weeks off your knee is best case. woof....that is hard gal big time. when I hurt my knee I could barely sit still for like 1/2 day LOL LOL
crutches were horrible so I more or less just hobbled around the house. nothing serious, just a knee problem which now had gone away but I sure hope it is ONLY the best when they get in there and you get the best case scenario thru all this!!!

but living without pain will be a wonderful thing!! I bet you can't wait for a fix.

when I had my neck surgery the relief was unbelievable. I truly didn't realize all the pain I was in and it affected my arm and all that. when healed I couldn't believe how wonderful they had fixed me....so sending good wishes they fix this for you, recovery goes fast and you are pain free! :)
