Awesome on the birds!!! Herons are really special to me, they've become a bit of a totem for me, I love the symbolism that they represent. And the eagles are really special as well. I've seen them a few more times around here, and I am with you, it is ALWAYS a thrill! My coworker and good friend and I were walking back to my boss's barn since I had to feed the horses and we were out so we stopped by, and an Eagle soared RIGHT over our heads. Thank goodness she looked up! We stood there staring up at the sky with our mouths hanging open :p

We have lots of herons and eagles in this area too, and I absolutely love them. It's always a thrill to see one, it never gets old. I have seen bald eagles in the yard, but have not lost a chicken to one. Great horned owls and red tailed hawks on the other hand... Are a little less skittish it seems.

Maybe the pair of bald eagles were looking at the tree as a possible nest site? They do seem to nest in tree tops. Maybe if you go back to the place in a week or so, you might see that there is a nest there now.

I don't think this tree was big enough. It was a smaller cedar tree. Plus, I'm pretty sure it's the wrong time of year around here.

Since KN and I are no longer doing the pony rides, our relationship is much better. And, while we'll never be on the same footing we were years ago, I'm comfortable w/where we are now. I decided yesterday that there was no reason for her to still have a key to my tack shed. And, if hubby comes w/me and we take the Durango, it means I had to take out 2 sets of keys since I don't have a key to the tack shed on that key ring. So, I asked for it back. She didn't get upset.

I got to the farm this morning right about when she did. I was actually hoping she was going to be there. I wanted to ride-and not in the arena! I wanted to go on a trail ride. It was a beautiful day for it. It was a bit cool and cloudy, so it was perfect weather for riding. I get off my bike she gets off her scooter and she asks me if I'm going to be there for awhile. I told her that depended and asked why. Reason? She wanted to go for a trail ride, so we saddled up our horses and hit the trails.

I have not ridden Misty for at least 2 months. And, I have not ridden her much this year and we haven't been on a trail ride since last year. For the most part, Misty did great! We're already planning to get there earlier next week and go out again. Hubby isn't complaining about it either. If he did, it wouldn't make a difference. He and our DD wanted to go shopping. He's finally figured out that I HATE to go shopping, so they did what they wanted to do, and I did what I wanted to do. I did do a bit of shopping though. I needed new hiking boots, so I ran over to K-Mart and got a pair. It's so nice having a pair of boots that don't have holes in them!

Glad things went well with KN! :hugs

Awesome on getting a ride in, too! :hugs I love horses and haven't ridden in years and I miss it horribly as it's theraputic for my hips ( breech baby that the doctors said would never walk...Mom said "I think different" :D ). I grew up in kidergarten on a race horse farm in Medford, NJ (mom and sd rented half of the farmhouse) and got my first black eye there. Too involved with the mares to pay attention to the fact that I should have been already outside the gate. :gig

Very cool on getting to see the Bald Eagle! :celebrate We have them in the area but only have a pair of Red Tailed Hawks that nest on our place. They were here before we moved in and I won't move them out just because we've moved in. They've never been a problem with our birds and spend a lot of time hunting the fields across the road.

W/the way the weather is looking this week, I think I'm going to have a great week. I'll be able to get out and explore the park. I plan on going out in the canoe so I can explore the lake as well as do some hiking on the other side of the lake. (And I'll be looking for a nest over there.) I'll be able to go w/my motorcycle group for a ride. And, since it's not supposed to be so hot, I'll be able to get some weeding done both at the farm and at home.

And I'm glad things went well w/KN as well. While I wouldn't want to live w/her, she's the only one that's there enough for trail riding w/on a regular basis. Plus, she's the only one I trust to hold a horse if I need that done. Everyone else doesn't have the experience or the horse sense.

I couldn't sleep last night until around 12:00 but still had to get up at no later than 5:00. Got up and did housework for about an hour, then ate, gave the bunnies water and left.

Got to the farm and got everyone fed and watered. Did some weeding and went to work. Worked until 4:00 and went to the farm

Got to the farm and fed Stormy. Then worked on cleaning the field. Between work and the weather, I'm waaaaay behind. Checked the chickens and Cindy, put the horses away and left.

Got home, fed the goats and checked on the bunnies. Then I went in the house. By that time, it was 6:00. I was quite tired and hungry. So, about all I feel like saying is FEED ME!

Nice on the trail ride! How lovely! Glad yall are getting along, that is a good thing.

Wish we were having as nice weather... its supposed to break again today, we'll see what happens. Had to keep the horse stalled and under the fan to keep him cool with his non-sweating issue. I really don't like that! So it goes...

It's gotten hot here again as well. Today was in the 90s at least and we had a group of Chinese exchange students come in the afternoon for a afternoon nature lesson. We had been going to do a lake study, but it was changed to a walk in the woods!
