That's why the nature center would be separate from the house. And, it would only be opened at certain times. It would not be opened on weekends and there would be no canoes/kayaks/horses for rent. Anyone wanted to do anything like that would have to bring their own.

This morning, I was out at the farm doing some weeding B4 I left for work. I knew my one silkie was a rooster, I heard it crowing a couple of days ago and was already planning on getting rid of it. But, I wasn't sure if I was going to keep the other one or not since I was hoping for a broody. Well, this morning, I heard BOTH of them crowing. :hit So, I'll be getting rid of both of them. I just might try for some bantam cochins chicks later in the summer if I can find them a bit older.

I FINALLY got my plants in the garden. I don't know how many I lost, and how many of these will survive, but they're in. I soaked them the best I could, then put leaves all around them. We had all that rain from the derecho, but nothing since. And, it's been extremely hot. I'll probably plant some stuff too, just don't know if it will make it or not. But it won't be for lack of trying.

Last night, I went out for dinner w/my motorcycle group. Quite honestly, while the ride was nice, I'm not sure the dinner was worth the price. It cost me almost $40.00! I got a cup of coffee (they never asked if I wanted more), a baked potato, 6 scallops, a salad, applesauce, and a slice of chocolate raspberry cheesecake. For that price, I could have eaten 3x at the local diner and had leftovers!

My brother sometimes rides w/the group, and he came last night. I was glad. I wasn't sure how to get home, so he made sure I got on the right road. Big brothers can be so helpful at times. :love And, I was telling him about the people who tipped the canoe. He came up w/a solution, one so simple that I couldn't understand why I didn't think of it! Next time we have that type of situation, we'll just flip the canoe around. That way, the front seat will now be the back seat and the back seat will be the front. This will put the back seat closer to the middle and balance the canoe better.

Oh, and I had to work on Saturday. So, I've done 1 week of work, and have 7 more to go. I think everything will be easier after this next week is done. I should finally be caught up on everything that should have been done B4 the day camps started, and have more done around the house, yard and garden.

This morning, I dropped the nuggets off at the hay/livestock auction. I have no idea how much they went for, but I'm HOPING for more than a dollar a piece. I'll admit, it seemed a little strange to go out to the farm tonight, and not have to take care of them. But, the chipetts are happy-they have more room and no annoying roosters are getting in w/them.

It's been really hot here. I did lose a few of the small tomatoes that I planted the other day. But, I wasn't sure if they'd make it or not. The rest of the plants are looking pretty good. I've been watering them every night. For right now, I'm not doing more in the garden. It's just too dog gone hot. But, it's supposed to cool off for the weekend, so hopefully I'll be able to finish it.

I was supposed to get my allergy shots tonight. I got to the allergist and found a note on the door. He had an emergency and had to leave. :barnie They did try to call but only have my home number. That did me no good. I'll have to make sure they have my cell number.

I've been washing a load of clothes at night and then hanging them out in the morning. That's been working pretty good. I'm going to try to talk hubby into helping me clean the living room over the weekend. If we can get that done, the house will look so much better.

I'm falling asleep, so I think I'm going to check everyone's posts, then go to bed. I haven't been sleeping the greatest. Last night, my knee was really hurting. And, even though I took a couple of ibupropen, I couldn't fall to sleep. Maybe I should look around and find the meds from when I had my operation.

Today was a fun day at work, NOT! One of the things we were doing was collecting trash while we were out on our walk so we could talk about the impact it has on nature, how long it takes for it to break down, etc. We were putting everything in a couple of bags and were going to look at it later. I found a couple of fish hooks. But, since I didn't want to take a chance on any of the kids getting hooked, I was carrying them. I would have been fine except for one thing. We were going down one of the trails. One of the kids looked into his bag and wasn't watching where he was going. Years ago, that section of the park had had summer cottages on it. And, there's still evidence of it in places. There used to be a fence across that section. One of the old fence posts was down on the ground-right in front of the kid. I'm trying to tell him to look where he's going, but he doesn't listen and trips over the post! Wouldn't have been a problem, but it was right next to the entrance hole to a ground bee nest! Of course, all the bees come boiling out and he got stung.

He stopped dead. Fortunately, the bees didn't keep going after him but now there's bees between him, me and one of the volunteers. I'm trying to figure out how we can get around the bees w/out stirring them up more. Well the volunteer decided to try and go around them to get to the kid. She got stung.

Now, the bees were really stirred up. I'm allergic and there was just no way I could get around there. So, I went thru the woods. I found a way to get back to the trail we were on, but I had to duck under some low branches. I didn't realize it, but in trying to get thru and pushing stuff out of my way at times, the one hook had come loose. Well, when I bent down, my hands were now low enough that the hook was able to swing over and catch me in the thigh. And of course, it went in past the barb. I had no desire to go to the hospital to have it taken out. I knew what they'd do, push it thru, cut the barb off, then pull it back thru so I just had the one guy there that I knew could do it. It hurt! But, we cleaned it up real well, even let it bleed for awhile, put some antibiotic ointment on it and stuck a bandage on it.

Quite truthfully, if I could have gotten it out by myself, I don't know that I would have even said anything. I had to fill out all kinds of paper work. The volunteer that got stung had to fill out all kinds of paper work. They had to fill out paperwork on the kid that got stung. All in all, not a good day.

It's still really hot out. We're waiting for some storms to roll thru, then it's supposed to cool down over the weekend. I hope so.

Yep, called the doctor's office to check. I was pretty sure I was OK, and I was. 2008 was when I had my last one. When I got my shower last night, I made it bleed some then slapped some betadine on it. B4 I went to bed, I put some antibiotic ointment and a bandage on it. It feels fine, but I'll be keeping an eye on it for any heat or redness.

The storms missed us! Radar map showed that rain had moved over us, but when I looked out the window, it was dryer than a bone! So I guess I'll have to water the plants B4 I leave. At least it's not supposed to be as hot today.

I got home yesterday and my buns looked like they were melting. I checked my thermometer B4 I went to sleep last night and had an unofficial high of 107! I need to get the big tub I had the chicks in all cleaned up. Then, when it's going to be really hot this summer, I'm going to bring them in. I can't be around during the day to check on them, so this will keep them a bit cooler.

I've got most of the stuff caught up at work that was supposed to be done B4 I started. So, I think I'm going to leave the rest of that until tomorrow. Then naturalist takes off Friday afternoons-she's using up sick time. When she's not here, I prefer to stay in the office in case the phone rings or someone comes by w/kids and/or questions. Tomorrow, I'm planning on going out on the trails. I need to get more familiar w/the one area so I'll start on that today. :D

Yeah, somehow that huge line of storms missed us too last night. Still not sure how that happened. Probably cause I turned off the sprinkler at the place where I am watching horses, and we kept our horses in until later.
That would be the 40% rule of doom. If the forecast says a 40% chance of something, whatever we choose to do with the horses will be 100% wrong.
40% chance of storms? Leave them in or put them out... whatever we choose will be the wrong answer!
