It's called the price hasn't gone up yet for Valentine's Day, so I'll buy flowers now. That's the good news.
The bad news? He promised our 19 yo DD that she could have a puppy. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against dogs. He even told her it could be in the house. But, I don't have time for a puppy, and I know from past experience that I'm normally the one that ends up caring for pets. Plus, if she's getting a puppy, it means that in all probability, I won't be able to get the puppy I want next spring.
The only thing he said is it can't shed, and it can't be real expensive. They were looking at a Jack Russell terrier! Honestly, I don't think that would be the best type of dog to have because of the chickens and the rabbits.
The thing is, I want a puppy for myself. But, I'm not wanting to get one b4 next spring. More often than not, our DD isn't even home. It's not unusual for her to be gone all weekend. I doubt very much that she plans to take a dog w/her. So, that would leave the care of it to me. And, I don't have time. THAT'S the only reason I haven't looked for a puppy (seriously) for myself.
It's been just over 2 years since I lost Patches, and not quite a year since our DS lost Shadow. At times, I miss Patches so much that I'm in tears. But, I haven't said anything to my DH because I don't have the time I need to work w/a dog.
Out of all of my family, I think the ONLY one that really knows how much I want a dog is my DS. He knows I love Cockers, and called me up last year. He was at a friend's house and there was a Cocker puppy there they were trying to find a home for. I was so tempted, but said no. (Of course, that doesn't mean that I don't look on the computer occasionally.)
Well most dogs with the name "terrier" behind it are not good with chickens....but of course that is a generality. But JRt is not what I would pick first as a farm dog. Some are really great dogs though.
I don't suppose you could suggest to your daughter that you guys get a dog together? A family pet? Then you would have more say in what they pick and perhaps get something closer to a cocker since you will be the one doing most of the care eventually.
I'd talk to your daughter now that if she is going to be gone all weekend, she cannot leave a dog with no one to care for it and she cannot expect you to do so unless she lets you be a part of it.
Well, nothing more has been said about it, so I'm just going to sit back and see. And, she didn't come home last night. She wasn't home when I got here. My hubby was drunk last night, called her up, and I don't know what all he said to her. I was dizzy, and went to bed. Stupid storm system.
I'm sorry! I hope you are feeling better......big storm coming does it to me, too. I feel like I get a pressure build up and it finally peaks and I get dizzy.
Take care of yourself and get some rest!
*savingdogs leads Denimdeb to her bed, tucks her in, bringing her a cup of tea and her Bible. She goes and shouts to other family members, "Heh, get that wood outside chopped and keep this house warm, will ya?" savingdogs grumbles and chops some before she leaves and gives DD a piece of her mind before she leaves. DD now does not like savingdogs. Savingdogs smirks*
