I think I need some new friends. Quite honestly, if I wasn't on the farm, I don't know how many of these people I'd actually ride with. Doesn't that sound horrible? I've already decided when we start looking for our own farm it won't be too close to the farm. DF and LF have the most time to go riding, but I also don't want to spend a lot of time riding w/them. They can both be quite negative, and that gets on my nerves!

I'm not quite as sore as I was. Sitting down and doing nothing helped.

Well, KN was there today, so I was able to work on that wall between the stalls! All I need to do is put a few more screws in in places, and it will be done! But, as it is right now, I won't have any more poop falling in from that stall! :bun I also got my field cleaned again. It's not that easy right now because of how wet the field is, so I can't get all of it up, but I can get most of it, so that helps. And, it's going to get down in the teens again tomorrow night, so that will help.

Got home and worked on firewood again. Once again, I have the wood holder in the basement filled and I still have quite a pile left from what I got out of the woods the other day. I also measured the wood shed. I wasn't really sure how big it was. If I can fill it to about 5 1/3 feet, that gives me 2 cords in there. It's kind of hard for me to fill it higher than that because of how tall I am. That's about my height!

And, I also got some of my truck cleaned out. I can finally carry a passenger w/out throwing a ton of stuff into the back seat. Next time we get a calm day when I don't have a ton of stuff to do, I'll do some more work on that. I'm hoping that by the time we finally get good weather, my truck will be clean, which would be nice!

I'm now relaxing for a bit. I still have to do dishes, but I've been keeping up on the pretty good, so it shouldn't be too bad to get them done.

It was cold here again today. And, if that wasn't bad enough, it was windy! I had the hay guy coming to drop off the last of my hay after church, so I left, got to the farm, and put on my insulated jeans. I'm so glad I did. W/the wind blowing the way it was, it was very difficult to get the tarp over my hay tied back down after I gave the horses their hay. Then, I got started on other stuff.

I got the field cleaned. CL came out w/her boyfriend, and since he's tall, I had him put the last board up between Honey's old stall and her horses. I can now put my feed cans in there and know her horses can't reach them! I also had to figure out why my charger wasn't working, but finally managed to find the problem. And, I kept checking my watch every little bit. I planned on waiting until 2:30, then giving him a call since I was expecting him much earlier. Just B4 2:30, he calls me, wanting to know if I still wanted the hay today. He didn't even have it loaded! :barnie

He got there around 3:00. I didn't even attempt to start the tractor. I figured I'm only keeping 1 bale, and I want that in the parking area, but near the gate into my field. The other 3 were going to RU. So, having them unloaded in the parking area means that she can get to them easy. He backed the trailer up to my truck, we put straps around them, and he pulled forward. Got the straps all undone and he left. CL and her boyfriend helped me get the one bale where I wanted it. I got my chickens taken care of, got Cindy taken care of and left! I had had no lunch. I was cold, tired and hungry. So, I called RU told her it was there, but I wasn't going to be able to do anything w/it. I don't know when she'll do something w/it, but figured I had been outside long enough. I got home, fed the animals and came in the house. I am now slowly thawing out. It felt so good to get into a nice, warm house. And, I'm not going to church tonight. I had planned on going, but being out in that cold for 3 hours completely drained me. But, at least I FINALLY have all my hay! Next year, I'm hoping to get it all even earlier.

I'm trying to talk DH into stopping by our hay guy's house, now, to make arrangements for this coming year. I want plenty of hay lined up early, as I've been watching the auction prices in the paper and it's going for 3X this summer's price right now :ep

Hope ya get warmed up! DH is out searching for a short in the pig pen wire and says it's bitey cold out there right now - I'm staying inside and hugging the wood stove!

I've finally thawed out. I had to almost crawl in the wood stove and drink a large cup of tea first, though.

I was going to help hubby put the insulation in the vent over the front door, but he did it while I was gone. And, I can feel such a difference in here. This should help our electric bill for next month. W/that cold snap we had, our electric bill was way higher than I was expecting. But, it was just as cold today as it was some of those days, and it's warmer in the house now than it was then w/out having a bunch of heaters on! I just wish he had realized sooner why it was so cold in here!

SSD, I hope you do get your hay lined up early. I was glad this guy stuck by his promise. He could have sold it for much more. I've been seeing it on CL for as much as $75.00 a RB! :th I couldn't have afforded that!

Well, hubby was off of work today and I HATE it when he is. I basically don't get anything done today. I was going to go out to the farm and do some work. Well, he decided he wanted to go food shopping. So, he took me to the farm. I got everyone fed, he moved the RB feeder for me, though I didn't really need his help to do it, let the chickens out and we left. We went shopping, then went home. I got nothing done at home, but didn't feel like going back out. Finally managed to get up enough energy to leave, went out and fed Stormy, gave the horses some hay, took care of the chickens and Cindy and left. They're calling for rain tomorrow afternoon, so I'm going to have to do wood B4 I leave in the morning. I wanted to get another truck load in, but that didn't happen. Hopefully I can get it in on Wednesday. :/

Yesterday's wasted day means I didn't get everything done today. I did a bit of wood this morning, not a whole lot, just enough to know I have enough at least until tomorrow afternoon. Got to the farm and got done everything I had to do B4 the rain hit. And, that's all I got done. I actually left a bit early which means I made it to the allergist early. The good thing about getting to the allergist that early is it means I get done fairly quickly. A bit later, and you have all the kids that have just gotten out of school. And, since I got done at the allergist early, I got to the chiropractor early. Since they weren't real busy, they took me right away. I was home by 4:15! Got the goats fed, took out the trash and the recyclables, got a shower and now I'm sitting back and relaxing.

Went a slightly different way home today. And, there's more wood cut and by the side of the road! I'm planning on seeing if I can get some of it tomorrow. I figure if I can get another 3 or 4 truck loads, that along w/getting the wood shed filled will hopefully be enough wood for next winter. And, getting it this way will be a big time saver! So, we'll see what happens tomorrow.

How does that work Deb? Was the electric company doing line work, and left some limbs cut up for people? Do you just go up to the house and ask if they want it? I wonder, because that happens up here and the people snatch it right up but, down where we were living, they refuse to give it to anybody and just let it sit there and rot :/ The people down there did the same thing after a storm. So frustrating.

They've actually cut down some whole trees! If it's in front of a house, you need to ask. If there's no houses around, you can just take it. I got 2 loads that were in front of a lake. What I saw today is in front of houses, so I'll have to ask-unless they put a sign out. I have seen people do that.

Today was a LOT colder than I was expecting. I got to the farm, and I froze! Tried to jump the mower, but had no luck, so I did no cleaning of the field today. I did put some more screws in the wall between Stormy's stall and KN's horse's stall, so it's much studier than it was. I still need to put some screws at the bottom, but there's too much poop in there for me to do it, and I ain't cleaning it! Then, I got the door up to Licky's stall. Only problem being, I need to have it a bit higher. I can't open and close it easily because of all the mud! So, one day when it's a bit warmer, and hopefully when I have some help, I can rehang it a bit higher.

By the time I got all this done, I was freezing! So, I decided to feed Stormy, and leave. I felt bad for Cindy though, I'm out of canned and didn't get any more yesterday. I forgot. I feel so guilty. :(

Left, went to the bank and got just a little bit of money. I'm waiting for a check from the insurance company. They screwed us up good. :he I'm hoping the check comes B4 Monday, I'll need to get feed and don't have the money for it.

I'm coming home, and I see the tree trucks. Not only was I able to get 2 good sized loads, but they tree guys helped me load it! And, they put in all the big stuff that I can't pick up! I was able to roll them out, and they look like the right size to burn, so I'll just need to split them! They're done in this area, otherwise I would have followed them around a bit and tried to get more, especially if they're willing to load it up.

Came in, started a fire and now I'm relaxing a bit B4 I go out and feed animals and do some more wood. I don't have enough to last the night. I'm going to try and get a lot cut up, then hopefully tomorrow it won't be so windy out, and I can go and get another load from the woods. They're calling for more rain this weekend, so I'm hoping to get a load or 2 in tomorrow.
