I haven't done too much this past week. First off, I was completely exhausted, and secondly, w/my SIL dying, I wasn't up to really doing anything either yesterday or today. I did do a bit of wood yesterday. I wasn't sure if I'd need a fire today or not, but other than making one this morning, we were fine. It was warm, wet and a bit windy today. I got soaked feeding the horses. But, I did learn something. Once I get the stalls finished, I had planned on leaving just the doors to Misty and Stormy's stalls opened. Those 2 stalls are side by side, and rather than put a wall in between them, I'll put in a gate so that can be opened when the horses aren't eating. That gives them both shade and shelter. Well, when I got there this afternoon to give Stormy his 2nd feeding, he and Misty were in that area, Licky and Honey were in Honey's "stall". So, I guess I'd better leave them all opened. I have a feeling Stormy wouldn't let the others in.

I've never gotten my green house cleaned out. So, I've decided to try and start my seeds in my house. Now that the iguana is gone, I have a south facing bay window. I normally start my seeds in a large, aluminum dish, then transplant them to something larger once they come up. I figure I can start them in the window, then once I'm ready to transplant, put them in the green house. It can be hard to keep it warm enough in the green house to get the seeds to germinate, so this will probably work better.

I'm also trying to get at least 1 of my house hens broody. I bought a dozen plastic eggs in the Acme the other day. Both Henrietta and Roxi lay in a different spot. So, I put a fake egg in each place. Henrietta hasn't really been laying. Today, I found an egg in her spot, and it's her's! So, all 4 of my hens are laying. For now, I'm just adding the fake eggs to the nests. Then, if one does get broody, I'll switch the fake eggs for fertilized eggs.

I also need to finish getting my garden ready. I just haven't felt like working on it. I think part of my problem has been the weather. If it's not cold out, it's cloudy, or windy, or raining or all 3. Plus I've been just so tired. But, it's getting close to when I can start peas, lettuce, etc so I need to get a move on.

I want to get my garden going too but the only tiller we have is a hundred years old and apparently "too much for me to handle". Well, if someone else doesn't go out there and till my garden then I will have to see for myself weather this machine it "too much for me to handle".

:/

Morning, Deb, hope you have a great day!

Warmth and rain here, no chance for doing anything outside.

Right now, I'd settle for a good night's sleep. I can't go to sleep at night, and when I do sleep, I dream about Bonnie, then wake up early. I think it's just the shock of it all. I KNOW she's in a better place, and I don't grieve for her, but at the same time, it was so unexpected that I feel lost, if that makes any sense.

Makes a lot more sense than why I am up right now. I have a dentist appointment AFTER work today and I am stressing about it and can not sleep.

It is the shock of your loss that is keeping you awake. SO sudden. Not like she was very ill or very old. You just have not had the time necessary to adjust to the idea, plus you feel for your brother so much. :hugs At least you have the comfort of KNOWING she is in a better place. You mentioned that she had RA and used a walker. We don't think of that as a major illness, but when you live in constant pain how nice it must feel to be free of it. :weee

Oh yeah, I do know how it is. :hugs We just need to go through the process of grieving in times like this. Not a big help for you, right now, I understand, but it is what we need to do.

How is her family holding up?
