Change of plans. I have some coffee out at the farm. So, if I bring that home, I can wait until next week to go to Wally World. This will work better since I go right past one on my way to my one doctor.

They're calling for a chance of rain tonight, so I just might have to get my lime and fertilizer down tonight. And, if we don't get it, guess I'll just have to water the ground some tomorrow.

I'm beat! But, I got a lot done! Went to the first store on my list and got my stones. From there I went to TSC and got goat feed, chicken feed, a battery and some paint. (I want to paint my RB holder when it's fixed.) But, they had no lime. So, I went to another feed store. They had the lime but no idea how much I needed. So, I got 2 40 lb bags of it. After that, I was finally able to get to the farm. Of course, I was late getting there, so I got a bunch of dirty looks and told about it.

Got everyone fed, the water tank filled, some hay out and turned the chickens loose. I was then ready to try and put my battery in and was hoping and praying it would work. When I got to TSC they didn't have the battery I needed. I had 3 options:
1. Get one smaller than I needed and hope it would be powerful enough.
2. Get one larger than I needed and know it would be more than powerful enough.
3. Get one the same size as what I needed, but w/the terminals on the wrong side and hope my battery cables were long enough to reach.
I went for option 3. When I took the old battery out, I had to cut the one wire. The nut was rusted onto the bolt so badly that I couldn't get it loose, so I ended up just cutting the wire. So that meant I had to put a new end on so I could connect it. And of course I couldn't find the pliers I needed to crimp it tight. First end I tried I messed up. Looked a bit more and found my pliers, so I got it on. Then, I tried to connect the battery. The wire for the negative was JUST long enough! Now, the moment of truth had arrived. I tried to start the mower. It started! So, I started working on cleaning my field. And, if I had to get more than a pile or 2 of poop up from 1 area, I shut off the mower. Low and behold, it started up every time! What a difference!

Get that all done, and drive my truck into the field. I back up in front of the stalls and start to shovel. I got the whole truck load unloaded. Right now, it looks good. They're calling for rain tonight, so I'm hoping this will make a big difference.

All of this took me longer than I was expecting. So, I get Stormy fed, then start working on taking apart my hay shelter frame. The nuts are completely frozen and spraying them w/WD 40 did nothing for them. So, I got out my hack saw and started cutting. I got it all taken apart. There's another frame that's the same that's also beat up. I took that apart as well. I'm hoping that between the 2 of them, I'm able to make one good frame. Threw all the pieces in the back of my truck. Just in case I don't have enough good pieces, I'll have to do some welding. I figured I'd rather bring it all home and try to figure it out at home and know rather than trying to put it together at the farm and find I don't have enough good pieces.

By the time I get this done, it's really getting late. So, I put out more hay. Get the chickens put away, then put away Misty and Stormy. By now, it's 3:30 and I wanted to go home but I had 1 last thing to do. I had to put down lime. I couldn't figure out what setting I needed to put the spreader on. There was nothing on either the bag or the spreader to give me a clue, so I just guessed. And I got to work liming. I got most of the area done. In order to finish, I would have had to open another bag and didn't really feel like it, so that section will have to wait. I don't know if I've put down too much or not enough. I need to find an easy way to check my pH. But at least it's done.

After that was all done, I had to go down and talk to LF. She had the vet out for one of her horses and I wanted to talk to the vet anyway. But, LF bought fertilizer. And, she got more bags than she needs. So, I'm going to buy some off of her. She's told me where it is, so B4 it rains next time, I'll get it and put it down.

Finally got home and got the goats and bunnies taken care of and clothes off the line. Now I'm sitting down playing on the computer and thinking about going to bed early.

I'll probably try. Only problem being, when I go to bed early, either I can't sleep, or I wake up real early!

Wow! Sounds like you had a very busy day. I bet you are beat!

I never measure lime here, just spread it and hope. I'm sorta that way on most stuff, even the composted manure, I just spread it until it "looks" right.

Sounds like you had an awesomely proggressive day, Deb! Yay on the new battery, too!

I stayed indoors and domesticated today because it was soo windy here. You-know-where is bound to freeze over since I spent the day doing that "D" word!

Meh, I've got a funny store to tell, so it's all good, right?

Today was one of those days when it could rain, or the rain could go a different direction. I looked at the radar and decided it was just too iffy to take the bike, so I took the truck. And I'm glad I did! I got my horses fed, got CL's horses fed and it started to rain! I still had to put out some hay, take care of the farm cats and let out my chickens. Once I had that all done and let the horses loose I had a choice. Sit in my tack shed and watch the rain, or find a way to kill some time. So, I found a way to kill time. I went to TSC and did some window shopping. Then I went to a couple of consignment shops, and the Acme supermarket. They had my coffee! So now I don't have to go to Wally World to get it! Got some gas and went back to the farm.

Gave Stormy his 2nd feeding, bagged some feed, let him and Misty graze in the parking area for a bit (though they seemed to prefer the hay!), did a few other things and put them away. All I had left to do was to get the chickens penned back up. And of course, today was the day the chose to be difficult. It took me awhile, but I FINALLY got them all in the pen and the door locked. Then I went home.

I'll admit to getting almost nothing done today. I just don't do well in this type of weather. I'll admit to basically just watching TV all afternoon. About the only good thing I did was to make a pot roast for dinner. Now I'm watching a movie on the Hallmark Movie Channel, then I'm going to go to bed!

Today was a nice, fall day. Hubby was supposed to work, so I had my plans all made. I was going to do some housework in the morning, then go to the farm for a few hours, maybe even ride for a bit then give Stormy his 2nd feeding and come home. That way, I wouldn't have to go back. On the way home, I was going to go thru the wildlife management area so I could figure out the best place to park. Once home, I was going to spend the afternoon working on firewood and the yard. And, if I had time, I was going to go out in the canoe for a bit

Well, hubby gets home last night and announces he doesn't have to work after all. So, there went my plans.

Instead, I went to the wma on my way to the farm. I found the best place to park is near the other road and going that way it's only about 9.5 miles from the farm! Then I went to the farm, fed Stormy put out hay, turned the chickens loose and came home. Hubby had a bunch of stuff he wanted to pick up over at his brother's house and we needed both vehicles. So, we went and got it. He was SUPPOSED to go and pick it up B4 and the kids were supposed to help him. Why am I not surprised that that didn't happen?

I left B4 he did. Once home, I grabbed a quick bite to eat and started working. I had almost a whole cord of wood that needed to get put in the woodshed. Plus, there was some that needed to be split smaller and some that was too long. Well, almost all of it is in the shed now. I have a small pile to cut, 1 piece that I couldn't split, and a slightly larger pile that needs to be put in the shed! However, I didn't have time to do any more-I had to go back to the farm.

So, I left. By the time I got there, it was almost 5:00. I was getting dirty looks from all the horses. So, I got Stormy fed and put out more hay. Then, I started up the mower and cleaned up some more poop. And, I didn't have trouble starting the mower up! Then, I got the chickens put away, got the horses put away, got Cindy fed and left. It was getting dark by this time.

Now I'm home, relaxing. Tomorrow, I'll be going riding after church again. And, I'm looking forward to it. The weather's supposed to be nice again. I just hope I have a chance to go canoeing soon as well.
