oh yea gators can move into alot of places

in SC they are on the golf course. when Tony played down there, each of those little ponds have warning signs and oh yes, they are there right on the course sunning themselves. you sure have to be careful...they got some big ones.

In Cherryville, not far from my parents house there was a good sized gator in a farmers pond. they kept him in there for a long long time --but then he got bigger! uh duh, yea they grow mister..HA HA...so he had animal control come and relocate him finally. they finally got scared of him..HAHA----of course stories like that hit the paper! :)

If the trucking company has BIL's name they may try to collect. Citations don't mean a whole lot. BIL didn't cause tire to come off. It came off through his negligence though. Therefore he didn't violate any traffic laws so no citation, but he is still responsible. The 2 insurance companies will duke it out. Road Alligator could be a catch all for road debris or what the State Patrol calls all the retreads laying all over the highways. Name could have come from all the Alligators on the road.

Well there *are*, realio trulio, alligators in NC, in the extreme SE part of the state. Not along I-95 of course :p

I would comment though that the phrase "road alligator" or "road gator" is also a phrase sometimes used to describe a truck tire scrap lying in the road (from someone's retread peeling off in transit). So it is not entirely impossible that phrase could have been legitimately used.

Your BIL is pretty darn, er, lucky, though. You too, to have them moving that far away ;)

I assumed he meant re-tread off of a semi. That is a common phrase here in the South. I think if he had actually hit an alligator he would not have said "road gator". But then again we are talking about Aly's BIL.

Big Daddy is also correct. At least around here this is how it works.
If the cops do not see the accident and no alcohol or drugs are involved they do not write a citation to either driver. The insurance companies and lawyers battle it out. So BIL is not yet in the clear.
If someone had been seriously injured he could do jail time from a civil suit for his negligence.

OH man! You just made me choke on my chicken salad sandwich! :gig

Ernie and I think the story was elaborated to make himself seem more important, that or my FIL embellished on what BIL told him. Seems both BIL's truck and the Semi had to be towed from the scene.

Far as I know, no one was injured. FIL says BIL was on the phone with him (talking on his cell phone! I hate drivers that do that!!) when his tires came off and he hung up on FIL.

patandchickens, I'm not lucky! I'm out right BLESSED that they moved!

So, Party at my house...who's coming?!

Oh and, BIL now thinks someone back here in Ohio intentionally loosened his lug nuts before he left for FL.

It wasn't me! and I can prove it!

LOL!! Well, for one, I'd have to know where his house here in Ohio was, and since I don't, and I've never been there, well, I couldn't have gone there.

Second, we were at the SSI/D doctor for Ernie during the time in question. :p

Any more news on the incident?
Well, if there is, we're not aware of it, because we've been keeping our distance from FIL since Friday  :p
