I met with the better agent of the two yesterday. I went round to her house (she lives 2 farms over from us) and chatted with her about the situation here, our need to sell this place quickly, etc. MIL's health is a worry as is her finances. We discovered that the council messed up the bills and instead of sending her a water bill each month for the last few months, they told her she had a "credit". Well, she didn't. She had a HUGE water bill to pay, which wiped out a chunk of her remaining funds. We can't move and leave her like this and while we're here DH can't work and with no income we can't support her and look after ourselves and our savings are not going to last forever... We need to sell this farm.
The agent dropped the asking price way low, to a bit over what we fixed as our bottom line, so there is still some wiggle room. We wanted her to do that in the first place, but she insisted that we try and get a better price. Well, she tried for 3 months and though there was a LOT of interest, no-one bit. We've got it listed under market value now, for a quick sale, so now we wait. Keep your fingers crossed everyone!
The property does have a good stretch of river frontage, but's an odd shape? Pity the house and main buildings are so "cut off" from the rest of it, but I guess it's better than having a road running through it like some of the others I've looked at.
What an adventure this will be if you ever get to Ireland! You are young enough and have plenty of energy to work one of these properties to make it your own. Really put your vibe into it and it becomes an expression of yourself.
Dreams must be fulfilled at some point in your life. You can't live your life wishing you had done something, wondering where you would be had you gone ahead and done it. These things will eat at you until you satisfy your soul and accomplish these deep seated desires.
I don't know, Britesea, but if I do buy this place, I will investigate the possibility. Is it just me or is the borders a bit odd? It looks like they've chopped some pastures up to cut off this property. I wonder if those boundaries are fenced even...
I love it! What kind of finish is on the outside walls? Looks like stucco. Paint? What color would you paint it? In Mexico, they use really bright colors, sometimes every wall is a different color. Some orange, yellow, red and purple sure would liven it up! Then your neighbors would probably paint it back to drab while you slept.....
