Hi Everyone, I thought I would introduce myself, since I've been lurking for month! I appreciate all the information I've learned so far, and hope to continue my education through this site...especially now that I can contribute some!
1. What state/province/country are you in and what is your climate like? Missouri, hot summers and cold winters!
2. How many people are in your family? Marital status? Married to a wonderful husband
3. How would you define self sufficiency? Having the knowledge and ability to take care of your own needs.
4. What would you do with your spare time if you had any resources you needed? Play with my critters all day and read books all night
5. Have you ever built a house , or other types of building? Do you want to? I helped build our chicken coop and our shed, but my husband generally takes care of all the building
6. Can you weld? Steel, aluminum, MiG, TiG, stick, Oxy-Acet? Tried it once...Fail.
7. Who or what inspired you to become more self sufficient? It has been something that has slowly been working it's way into my life and now has slightly taken over
8 Cloth or paper? Usually cloth
9. In what ways are you self sufficient now and in what ways would you like to learn more? I currently have chickens and garden, but would like to get a dairy goat or cow someday.
10. In what way(s) will you never choose to become self sufficient? I'm not sure
11. Are you interested in stocking up for future needs? Absolutely
12. Where do you end up when you sink into yourself, away from the outside world? Reading a book
13. Can you drive a farm tractor or a semi? Tractor yes, semi no
14. Do you make crafts or useful items? Would you want to teach others how to do these? I'm working on this. I'm not a crafty person by nature, but like to pretend to be.
15. Can you have legally livestock where you are at? Do you have any? What kinds? We can have whatever we want. But currently I only have horses, chickens, turkeys, cats and dogs
16. Can you operate a lathe? Metal, wood? No
17. Do you like to garden? If so, what do you enjoy growing? Yes, vegetables. And I would love an orchard
18. Do you fish? Bait or explosives? Yes, with bait
19. How much space/land do you have or rent? City? Country? 13 acres in the country
20. Are you a Novice, Technician, General, Advanced? ARRL? Since I don't know what this means, I'll go with novice
21. What is your self sufficient specialty? Or what one would you like to learn? Animals. I try reeealllly hard with plants, but they don't always let me know they need water till it's too late....
22. If you could create a degree and curriculum, what would you major in and what classes would you take? I already took it! Agriculture, focusing on sustainability.
23. Do you do wood work? framing, finish, cabinet? No
24. Are you interested in herbal medicine? Maybe
25. If you could live any place you chose, where would it be? On 100 acres way out in the country
26. Do you use a wood stove for heating or cooking? no, but I would like to
27. What would your ideal super hero/villain be? Batman. What he doesn't have, he makes a gadget for.
28. Are your family or friends also interested in self sufficiency? I'm working on them. My husband tells me I'm weird, but he goes with it
29. Do you like to cook? Are you interested in whole foods and natural foods? raw milk? farm fresh eggs? I like to cook occassionally, but my hubby is sooooo much better at it. I do the grocery shopping though, so I determine what we eat.

32. What skills do you have that help you be more self sufficient? I am a diligent researcher, love to learn, and willing to try anything. If I don't know how to do it, I will find a way!

34. Do you have solar panels? Plans to use solar energy? No, but again, would like to.

Absolutely, all my financial focus is on getting out of debt so we can be more self sufficient.
