Thanks for all those hugs. I needed them.

I went and visited DD yesterday. I meant to stay only an hour, I came home 3 hours later :p

Time just flies when I have the little guy in my arms.

I did go out to buy potassium iodine yesterday, but our stores are out. I got some kelp instead. I actually feel better about taking kelp anyway. It was the last bottle in the store. So I put some other groceries back and got the kelp, since I had a limited amount of money to spend. It makes me feel better to take the supplement, just in case.

It is raining today. I forgot to take the laundry down last night  I guess it is getting a good rinse.

We recently got a brochure inviting us to "The National Heirloom Exposition". It will be held in Santa Rosa, CA in September this year. SO and I discussed it and decided to participate. I think it will be a lot of fun and possibly profitable for us.

hi FD! :)

Your grandson is so beautiful and precious! I'm sorry you had a tough day. I did too, these last few days. We are too alike...

I helped organize and then worked in the commercial kitchen for a memorial for a young man, who on his 25th BD, perished along with 3 other contract pilots in a vintage plane crash in Dubai at the end of Feb. They were contracted to bring it back to the US. He was his mother's only child.....

There were over 500 ppl who attended, so there was alot of food. I had a wonderful time doing what I do best in the kitchen, but the next day I was sooooo low. On Tuesday, I sent an EM to friends and family asking for them to donate to the red cross for Japan. That helped my mood, and I was able to clean the kitchen, and do some chores. Not 2 hrs later, I got a call from EDD saying I've been granted another 13 week extension on my UE! Today I feel better.

Precious boy, wonderful momma and very special Grammy.

hugs...

Thanks Murphysranch. That is great news about the Edd. Sad about the young man though.

We found a young woman stranded in her truck in front of our house this morning. We let her use an outlet so she could use her phone to get a friend to help her. She was too scared to leave her truck. Our neighborhood has a bad reputation.
We told her she needn't be afraid. The neighborhood isn't as bad as the reputation. That whenever anything happens here all the neighbors come out and do what they can to help.
We had to go get some potting soil and when we got back she was gone. So I guess someone came to help her out.

We are getting ready to start our seeds. We are going to wait until this next predicted storm front passes and then really get moving on it.
We got some clear plastic too. SO wants to make a different greenhouse this year and not use the one we made last year. But we only got a little bit of new plastic, since we didn't have much money. We like to start our seeds in purchased soil, since they usually end up staying in the pots for a long time. Last year we got supersoil and out plants did very poorly. THis year we saved our money, so we can get a better wyality organic soil. One we used in the past and had great plants. Too much rests on us having a good harvest. We cannot risk a repeat of last year.

I had made some beet kvas about a week ago. I tried it tonight. It didn't taste like I expected. It wasn't sour at all. I think I need to leave it longer. I did like the taste though. But then I love beets.

This morninf I woke to a BIIIG Noise outside. It was the strom, wind and rain. Then later in the news we found out we had a tornado!!! We are supposed to have earthquakes and flooding, not tornados. Stuff got blown over that never gets blown down. We have had some nasty storms so far this winter. But nothing ever really got blown into the neighbors yard. This time it did. One building got knocked down in town. A woman saw the building being lifted and shredded.
This storm did a bit of damage around the bay.

We just stayed hunkered down inside. SO got a nice fire going. We go outside to check and take care of the critters once in a while.
We did splurge on lunch from a fast food joint. Mmm, jummy fries!!!!

My sister is in the area and will be visiting and coming to see the baby.

I got to babysit again yesterday. I thought I might get some reading in, but found I couldn't get myself to put the little fellow down  :love

Glad to hear you guys are safe from the tornado...they can be scary, we get them here every once in a while too...but mostly microbursts.

Wow that does sound unexpected. Don't often hear of tornadoes in Cali!

Glad you are all ok. I really REALLY don't like tornadoes, and I've lived most of my life in places that get lots of them.

Yeah - I heard about that down here in Sunnyvale. DH called me to ask if there was anything to worry about down here - it looked fine though, just stormy down here.

Glad to hear you're alright!

I just saw a link to that heirloom expo you mentioned. So glad you'll be participating! I asked DH and he said he was fine with me attending but it's too bad it's so far away - he sounded like he would have liked to attend too.

I received a flyer in the mail for that Expo. I wish I was closer and could attend.

A tornado huh??? Not that's scary.

I woke up to black clouds this morning. Looks like we might get a bit of rain.

Stay safe.

Glad you weren't officially hit with the tornado. I think this extreme weather is going to continue and who knows what we all will see. Hopefully our gardens and such won't be ruined by all of this.
