I've been miserabley sick. I stayed in bed all day sunday and sort of slept. I am finally feeling a bit better.
Spent abut 45 minutes with the goats today. Today was their first day of no midday bottle, so I thought I would take them out of their pen and sit under the peach trees with them. They didn't seem to miss the bottle at all. They were all over me though.

By the time I went back inside I had sat in it, got it on my hands, knelt in it and stepped in it!

Poop of course.

I had to change and wash, just so I could get back on the couch for my afternoon lay down. I am not really tired right now, but I don't have any energy either. This stinks. There is sooo much to be done :barnie

I am glad you are all far away from me, so I can talk to you and not make you sick ;) :p

We had customers on monday and I wouldn't go out to see them. SO had to take care of them. I have no intention of passing this nasty bug to anyone.

Gosh, I wonder what you've got? Not a cold. Not the flu. Sounds strange for something to be hanging on for so long, especially since we've finally got good weather. Can you lay outside on a lounge and get rest? Warmth, sun, and peaceful sounds (well, sorta since you're in town, I believe).

:hugs Hope you feel better soon. Allergies gave me sinus headaches lately. Maybe some seasonal detox stuff too- that happens naturally in spring. It's improving now. Hopefully you'll be feeling :ya :weee again fast so you can enjoy the babies, and the spring.
The Earth is very good at helping us heal. Laying on the earth is great, but look first to dodge the fresh manure.

Thank you all. It is so nice to get your well wishes.

I am pretty sure I have strep throat. It sure feels like it. It also usually takes me a long time to get better. I am just hoping it doesn't turn into something else like bronchitis.

So I try to keep getting plenty of rest and drink lots of fluids and eat as healthy as I can.

At least the weather is nice and I can go outside for short periods of time and let the goats out to play. They are growing so much. I tried to get some video of them skip popping all over and of course they wouldn't :p

I picked a basket of spinach this morning and am looking forward to having it for dinner. SO has been cooking. I am so glad I have all this canned fruit in the house as well. I have been eating canned peaches, pears, plums and frozen blackberries. The best part is, that it is all homegrown and home preserved.

I am hoping to have enought energy in a few hours to take Cecilia and her chicks into the front yard for some bug hunting, while I pull weeds to feed the rabbit.

Cecilia is by far the most beautiful frizzle (or frazzle?) I have ever seen. (Please don't tell Suzie I said that!)

I loved the photos!

Sorry you are sick. Strep throat is bad news. I used to get it all the time when I was a new, young teacher. It would knock me flat on my back. I would need help getting to the dr.

I hope you feel better soon! :)

Thanks BBH

The spinach last night was wonderfull. I never made it back outside, except to let the goats out for a little romp and to give them their bedtime bottles.

Today I managed to take Cecilia and her chicks to the front yard, where I did some weeding, while she hunted for bugs.

I gave the little goats their tetanus booster this evening. I had hoped SO would be able to help me, but he is useless or rather more of a hindrance at this type of stuff. He gets too nervous. I ended up holding the goats myself and then injecting them. I got myself once, just a little nick.
When he tried to hold them, everyone ended up uptight. The goat he was holding would try to get away and struggle. When I held the goat to be injected, she just went limp, I made a tent of her skin behind the arm and inserted the needle. It went nice and smooth. They only twitched, when the needle pricked them.

Now we're all settled for the evening. Everyone is fed and snug in their beds, except for us. We don't even know yet what we're having for dinner. We still have leftover roast beef, so we'll come up with something.

Yup, we got rain again. We DON'T get rain here in May! We did today.

I dodged the Amgen tour this morning to return the library books.

We got 4 chicks for our two broody hens. Those two are sharing the job so nicely. We have them in the nursery pen with a pet carrier that we can lock up at night.
Cecilia is in the henhouse with her little ones now. She also gets locked up in a pet carrier at night.
Susie spent the last few nights in the house, she has lost nearly all her feathers again. I ususally put a sweater on her, but it really needed washing, so she ended up in the house today. She is complaining about it right now. I think I'll give her some minestrone soup. That ought to appease her.

I made minestrone soup using nearly all homegrown goodies. I used dried, frozen and fresh vegies and herbs. I was really craving a major dose of vegetable and this is one delicious way to get those vegies.
Then I got creative and made my own mustard, using the recipe from Nourishing Traditions. I used our own mustard seed, that I collected last summer from the mustard that grows wild in our field, whey from the yogurt I made, lemon from our bush, and garlic we grew. It smelled really good, but needs to sit in the cupboard for 3 days.

I replenished the milk for my kefir grains, that Free sent me. Susie loved the old milk and I put the bowl outside for the dog and the chickens.

This rain is gloomy, but it is nice having a big pot of soup on the stove and a fire going. It'll probably be the last fire this season. I used up all the little bits and pieces that were laying about. So it was a way of cleaning up.

I am not looking forward to going outside to take care of the critters for the evening, but at least that is the last chore that must be done today.

We are waiting to get our field cut and plowed, as we do every year. I keep trying to talk SO into changing the way we do this, but so far I have had no luck

Now I better go and feed Susie some soup.
