:hugs

I know that this has been a struggle for you, but in the end you will make the right choice....take your time and give it a lot of thought. Maybe a change of scenery is what you need.

I am sure that dealing with him for so long is part of the reason that you are such a kind a patient woman!

Oh, FD. I wish I lived closer. I'd bring you some Italian prunes (my tree is laden with them this year), some hugs, we could figure out a way to get the meds needed more cheaply, we could go to the beach and share a bottle of wine, I could meet your goats and your DD.

I don't know your SO, nor did I belong to this forum when you were having issues with him. But I do know that this intolerable heat brings me so down down down. I can't even go outside to water, cus every freaking day for over a week its been close to 100 degrees. Today is supposed to be about 94. We can't cool the house down even with windows open all nite. Right now its 76 in the house, but 72 outside. (9 a.m. PST). whoopie. Its probably contributing to his issues.

I used to live in NY. Went to high school there in Rochester NY. Don't know if I'd like it now as an adult tho.

Things are good here today. It has cooled off substantially, we got our fog back!!

I canned more green beans today and hope to get my venison broth canned too. I am looking up recipes for pickling spices and haven't been able to find any yet. I need a cup of it and of course I only have 1 tbs. So I figured I'd make some up. I want to make a batch of senfgurken with our lemon and apple cucumbers.

I picked a 16 oz container full of asparagus berries. I plan on bringing them to my parents place with me and give them to everyone.
I also made a batch of laundry soap. I had grated the soap last week.
SO helped me rack my wine last night. He seems as excited about it as I am. I have 2 gallons. It is mostly wild fermented, so it is quite an experiment.

I am going to feed the goats and chickens and then reheat the broth, so I can can it. On second thought, I think I'll do that tomorrow. By the time I get the critters fed, it'll be time for dinner and then I will need to put the cukes in the brine for tomorrow. Argh, these days are just too short.

Not to get in your business and you may be already aware of all of this, but there is an "official" diagnosis of Seasonal Affective Disorder. It can be helped a lot of times just by exposure to certain lighting etc. Not totally familiar with it, but might be something to check into......

What are asparagus berries? How do you use them?

:hugs You are intelligent, you have so many skills, and are a very caring person. You have used those qualities to help your SO and that farm for a long time. I wish I could know you face to face, since I really think you're a great person.
Just remember that your happiness matters too. You need to be able to count on the people in your life too. All year round.

Like many fruits(which the berries are)they must be properly pollenated to reproduce. there are male plants and female plants and you need both to produce viable seed. For reasons known only to the nursey trade the roots which are the normal way of the trade to start new beds are almost always females which have the berries. Maybe they grow faster or better? Since you are eating the shoots put up by these roots, the gender doesn't matter unless you are trying to grow them from seed. I would do a trial germanation on the berries before doing a lot of work trying to start a bed from seed (which would be a multiple year project). I would beg, buy, or steal some roots before trying seeds.~gd
