Except for the year during the height of COVID, I had always help manage our county's Toys For Tots campaign since 2013 with the county coordinator. Leaving the volunteer gig I was with (T4T was just one of the group's efforts) in September was hard, but the right decision.

This morning, I am dropping off all of my group branded clothing back to the group (over 2 dozen items) as they clean up after the T4T distribution event this morning. Very bittersweet. Giving back the gear will remove the temptation to return, as well as empty some closet space.

Wife is recovering from surgery. Took a day or two, but have everything on a schedule. Wife is fed, hydrated, and medicated. Kitchen cleaned up.

Still dark this morning, sitting in my office in the dark, listening to the rain through the open window, watching the flagpole Christmas tree lights twinkle, sipping my coffee, just doing nothing at the moment

Doing nothing at the moment is probably the best thing you can do for you right now. Savor those moments!

My brother was a big organizer for toys for tots in his area. He finally got so sick and weak that he had to quit. His beloved Marine Corp League did not let him be forgotten. Someone was with him in the hospital room all the time. When family showed, they would leave, but come back so he wouldn’t be alone.

You have been of service for toys for tots and it is bittersweet to give it up. Someone else will step up to take your place. Be proud of what you have done.
