I just did my first batch of bath salts yesterday. Start up was a little expensive for me, but since you already do soap, you might have alot of the fragrances. I'm thinking about packaging soaps and salts with the same scent as Christmas gifts.

I get cheap little baskets and glass canisters or jars at Goodwill.

The basic recipe for bath salt is:

1 c. coarse salt (sea salt)
1 c. epsom salt
10 drops food coloring
10-20 drops fragrance

Mix salts together. Scoop out about 1/2 c. and add fragrance and coloring. Mix well. Gradually add the rest of the salt mixture a little at a time, mixing after each addition.

Put in a sealed well glass jar and shake every day for one week. Salts are ready to use after that.

I still have to get started on the soaps. :/

I love the salt & sugar scrubs and will def. make some for the holidays.

I would really like to try soap but there seems to be an even steeper start up cost

Congrats on your entries!!

You know how the saying goes: "You can please some of the people most of the time, most of the people some of the time, blah, blah, blah . . .".

I guess that goes for judges at fairs, too.

Our local fair starts Tuesday, the Mid-East TN Regional Fair. It seems to get smaller and smaller every year. We used to have derby car races, now it's just Do Jo (whatever) demonstrations.

I messed around and didn't enter anything. After I go, (if I go), I'm usually sorry I didn't enter.
