Trying to catch up on everything here and just getting back to your journal. you have been busy since my last visit. Took me a long time to read up. Great find on the door. I know you said you don't do much picture posting but would love to see that door when you finish. If things don't work out on that hay field next to be woud you consider a move to Mississippi? LOL Would love to have you for a neighbor instead of these city slickers that just moved in and had never even seen a chicken before. Well except on their plate.

Glad you are feeling better. You are so right about how blessed you can feel just by getting out of bed and feeling good. Being sick for a while sure puts everything back into perspective.

In previous years I cooked TWO different Thanksgiving dinners.
The first was on Thanksgiving for our church. Every year our church offers a FREE Thanksgiving dinner to the neighborhood. We usually feed 100 to 150. I usually started that meal (with lots of help) on the day before Thanksgiving when I made the dinner rolls and banana bread. The next day (Thanksgiving) I made the stuffing, potatoes, veggies and helped keep the food line stocked. The turkey, pies, salads and veggie trays were all made by other church members and of course LOTS of people work to make the dinner a success. I had to quit doing this dinner a couple of years ago. My arthritis just got too bad.

Then the day after the first dinner, I would fix the family dinner (usually for about 13 or 14 people). I cooked the majority of this meal alone with some salads or pies thrown in by others.

Now do not get me wrong... I LOVE to cook. I love to make those dinners. I miss being able to help out at our church dinner. I am just reflecting on how easy it is THIS year!
FF, I am just catching up with your journal... Girl, you wear me out! :D

Love that your church does the holiday meal. Ours has a community cafe twice a month and the holiday dinners are killers! Even if you love to cook (me too!). :)
Before her arthritis made it too hard, my friend Dee was a busy bee in the church kitchen at the holidays. Now she runs the veggies through the food processor, sets the tables, and makes centerpieces. The centerpieces she makes at home in dribs and drabs of time. Dee has 4 to 6 hours to complete the table settings, so she can take her time at time with breaks when needed. Dee tried giving up her cafe time, but she said she missed it too much.

You all have me laughing thinking about the little old ladies at church. Each church must be blessed with them. I have a great aunt that was like that until a couple of years ago. I know she must miss it. They sure are an example to us all.

Farmfresh, I hope you find your piece of heaven soon. A prayer that your dh comes to know the many benefits of such a move.

FF - I meant City Slickers as in they did not even know chickens had butts much less that eggs came out of them. LOL

Your Church sure does a lot. My mom was one of of those little blue haired busy ladies until she had her stroke. I know she misses all the activity now. I stay pretty busy but that woman could work circle around me right up until the stroke. At 87 she was still cutting her own grass.

Sounds like you better listen to your DH.....Cardboard Boxes are not very liveable in rainy weather. LOL

I think deep down he gets it. He just has to overcome that security bit and bravely take the jump.

"And be Happy for the chance."

FF, you have a positive outlook. Some people would just sit in the rocker and give up. Keep on, keepin' on.
