Great dogs, Farm! What kinds of chickens do you have? Do you keep a light on for them in the winter?
Just curious, as I am thinking of getting more RIRs and would like to try a few Speckled Sussex, Barnvelders this spring. I only have a few gals who lay consistently throughout the winter without using a light. My White Rocks, one Black Star, a few Red Stars and a few Doms.
Hey FF!
Just thought I would stop in and say hey. I haven't caught up with everyone and their happenings yet, but I am glad to hear all is well with you. Everytime I open a jar of that peach butter I made, I think about you. I missed being here terribly and chatting with all of you.
Farm, as soon as I get a couple of broodies this spring, I'm thinking of borrowing my sis's incubator and hatching some chicks to slide under those broodies. I need some replacement hens and some meat roos on the side.
So far, I've not had one offspring from my PR roo but now he gets a chance to breed and I'm finding most of the eggs are fertilized. I really want to see what kind of mutts I can turn out with the PR influence over my current flock.
I may also try to get some Rainbow Cornish, a few ducks and maybe a turkey or two this spring to free range.
