I had tank at his favorite store, rural king today. I had to get a mineral lick for the moo crew. Of course you know the tubs of rabbits, ducklings, turkeys and chicks are right by the mineral lick blocks. So I asked some guy to hold him by his leash, so I could grab a mineral lick. I avoid that area of the store, like the plaque. Tank could jump the fenced in area like a flea jumps on a dog. And I could just imagine the horror, if he did. He is a bird dog afterall. yet still... I strive for peace, even while at rural king.

Here's the bull calves born middle of July 2024. Durable and hardy this breed is. They could use longer legs if we have another wet winter like we did this winter, but they managed. They all have the crazy hairdo's and you can tell by there hooves, they have been gazing in the lower pasture by the spring where it's muddy down there. Maybe they like mud or maybe the are tired of hay and want fresh grass. Probably a little of both.

P.S. we are expecting three more calves in May 2025.

The calves are $$$$ on the hoof, too. It's the fresh green grass -- like candy. My goats are savoring any blade they find

The first 3 calves are still here. They go to the processor in August. They will be 23 months old then.

There's this BSE thing, if they are showing there 30 month teeth. So you have to get them in before 30 months, if you don't want to pay the extra processing fee and only have the option of boneless steaks.

It's the truth. Most people go with 18 months. I'm going to try 23~24 months. See how it goes, I can always slide in, if not satisfied.
