P U C O is the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio -xpc said:PUCO for us regular people means = POCO = POwer COmpany. Very few CFL's will last 11 years, more like five years the way we run them at best. The power company in Wisconsin gave us 12 cfl bulbs for 12 dollars, since 2004 they are all still working good. Charging $11 per bulb is a raping and you should call the PSC.
Tell your power company that you already have CLF's in every socket and want a refund. This sure sounds like a class action law suit.
It is the organization that is *supposed* to regulate the utilities so they don't overcharge the public.... But as sylvie mentioned, in Ohio, they are in bed with the corporations they are supposed to be regulating.
This is from the PUCO website - (Emphasis below is mine)
The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) affects just about every household in Ohio. That's because the PUCO regulates providers of all kinds of utility services, including electric and natural gas companies, local and long distance telephone companies, water and wastewater companies, and rail and trucking companies.
The PUCO was created to assure Ohioans adequate, safe, and reliable public utility services at a fair price. More recently, the PUCO gained responsibility for facilitating competitive utility choices for Ohio consumers.
The PUCO Agency Overview outlines the duties and responsibilities of the PUCO.
