I've been so immersed in house prep the last week that I needed a little garden therapy! These pictures are 3 weeks ago so just imagine everything twice as big!

Beans are to the left and sugar snap peas are to the right. These are on the north side of the box. On the other side is lettuce, broccoli, carrots, more peas, and cabbage.

This is mostly tomatoes, peppers, basil, carrots, lettuce, onions, oregano, cilantro, and spinach.

This has got some more tomatoes and peppers in the front, 1 eggplant, and then cukes, zukes, watermelon, another melon that I can't remember, cantaloupe, and spaghetti squash. Hopefully after getting the house listed this weekend, I can get all of that stuff trellised.

Thanks Tamlynn! Well, I gathered in our raspberry harvest last night... 1 ripe berry :weee These were canes I got from a neighbor this spring so I was surprised to get anything at all. Fun surprises!

Two days ago I was not happy with my pole beans (Green Anellino from Cook's garden). They're only about 4" long and there is about 1 bean for every 8 to 10". NOT like the KY wonder or blue lakes that I'm familiar with. I was wondering what in the world I had done and why had I thought that heirloom French beans were any better than the good old standby. Then yesterday for breakfast, I lightly steamed them and put one sprinkle of sea salt on them. I popped one in my mouth and wondered what planet I had just been transported to. They tasted nothing like any green bean I was familiar with. They had a smooth, creamy buttery texture and full of wonderful flavor. I mean seriously, it was like putting hunks of green butter in your mouth and letting it melt on your tongue. So now I'm not bummed at all. Just yet another reminder that when you plant things you've never planted before, you never know what will happen :p

Okay, so what do you all do about annoying neighbors who think it is okay to shoot off the screaming fireworks for 45 minutes between 11:15 and midnight? After 1/2 hour I did call the cops but I'm not sure if they got here before they quit.

Wonderful pics of your garden!!

as for the neighbors, make them a pie or cake, stick some sparklers in the top, and light them right before knocking on their door.

When they answer, tell them since they really enjoyed their fireworks last night while you were trying to go to bed, you thought you'd thank them for keeping you awake and disturbing the peace.

Say it all nice and sweet. :p

Your prayers are coveted for Chase Bank and Potential Buyer for tomorrow...

We were supposed to have the house ready for the realtor tomorrow at 2pm, sign the contract with her and have her take the photos etc. for the listing. So we're slightly behind due to everything taking longer than expected. We're eating lunch and re-evaluating and prioritizing. Phone rang and he says okay, how soon? Gets off the phone and says well, we've got someone coming to look at the house in five minutes.

Anyway, long story short, we may have a buyer for the house due to a family referral from a neighbor who knew we were getting ready to sell. Potential Buyer has family ties in this neighborhood and is already pre-approved and had been looking for a property to buy private party rather than involving agents. He's talking to his banker tomorrow. :weee

The miracle is that he was wanting something to move into in August so he could move out of his apartment before his lease is up the first of September. We were hoping to find a buyer who would let us live here until a couple of weeks before school starts on August 23.

I'm still in shock and numb because it seems so unreal. Life is such a fun, amazing adventure when you're right where you're supposed to be. And why is it when we are amazed with the good gifts of the Father? And even if this doesn't work out, it just means we weren't supposed to do the listing tomorrow. We called the agent to postpone everything for a week in case this doesn't work out.

Just wanted to share the good news!!! :celebrate

Oh, and if we don't have to pay agent commissions, we should be able to walk away with enough money to pay our last debt from the gallery down enough that we could actually afford to make the remaining payments while I'm going to school full time! :fl
