Hey Barred Buff! Nope, I think this one will stretch out. Are you North eastern or south eastern? We want to move to eastern KY when I'm done with school again. We love it out there!

Im right at the door of the Red River Gorge. Not to far from where the fire is. I classify us at the tip of the southeast. I love it out here, some people from a certain northern state (OH) do tend to poke fun at us down here in the southeast. Do you have any chickens or rabbits?

Last year we had chickens. It started with 4 hens, 1 went broody and it exploded from there. Then our lives changed due to reduced hours at work and we had to revisit our life goals and timeline. Chickens had to go. We haven't tackled rabbits but my parents had a rabbitry when I was growing up. Currently we have a garden, small orchard, lots of berries, and 2 dogs.

Thanks BarredBuff. We'll definately have animals again in the future. Sometimes you just have to be willing to sacrifice in the short term for long term dreams and goals.

Today was relaxing! Went to the library this morning and picked up the newest Ivan Doig -Work Song and got Fearless by Max Lucado. I'm currently reading the biography of Oswald Chambers. Just finished the Gift of Fear.

Then after the library I browsed through 2 thrift stores. Just got up from a nap and feeling ready to tackle raking leaves! Then it's off to my big stint at work.

Is your climate mild enough for a winter garden?

I know that question was meant for framing fowl, but I am her neighbor to the south. And there is no way I could do a winter garden, except with coldframes. In the winter lows are in the 20s and highs are high 30s. Plus when it snows, its usually over 2 inches. So I couldnt. Just thought Id answer it to,:p

I currently have lettuce and carrots in the ground doing well. I also have cabbage, broccoli, and cauliflower but they're not doing well because I didn't water them for the past month and a half when my schedule was crazy. Oh well...

I need to brush up on my Winter Harvest Handbook. Now that my schedule allows for some projects again, I need to straighten out my greenhouse and see what I can do with that this winter. I may also see if anything happens just leaving some spinach in the raised beds and mulched with leaves.

I'd like to at least get some lettuce and cabbage from the greenhouse. (It's one of those inexpensive plastic zip up around the frame kinda greenhouses. ~Nothing at all like Skr8pn's!) Worst case scenario is I use up some seed.

No hard freeze yet. Some of the leaves were frost tipped however and my okra has finally given up the ghost. Nights are in the low 40's every night now.

One of hubby's front porch pots sits right next to my house. In it are three habenaro pepper plants. Those lousy things are STILL producing and flowering. Hubby actually harvested 8 peppers yesterday. I know it is protected where it sits, but I have never seen such a cold hardy pepper!

 I just realize you might have meant "framing fowl" = FF! :p
