Well, it wasn't as nasty down there as I thought. Just that damp musty wet earth smell. There's a blockage between the washer and sewer line and a couple of rounds of liquid plumber and the shop vac haven't been able to clear it. So, he's decided that we're going to take out a 8' section of pvc, clean back to the washer, clean forward to the sewer, and replace the pvc with new and put back together with couplers. I'm not a plumber...
Went to the farmer's market this morning. Got some grassfed beef liver and then realized the guy at the end with the pastured pork had liver for $2 less per pound... Got some rhubarb too that I'll whip into pies next weekend.
Had MyT Man run to the vet the other day for flea stuff. They no longer carry it or sell it Receptionist recommended we go to wal-mart.
Pullets are starting to squat... eggs should be soon.
Got 4 slow food/traditional food recipe books at the library to read through tomorrow. It is my second to last weekend of nights here and then the first weekend in July is Sat. and Sun during the day and then they're done. Counting it down for sure now. 48 minutes 'til bed here tonight and then that just leaves 5 more nights of sleeping on the couch. Boy, I won't miss that for sure.
MyT Man's b-day is the 22nd. I told him to not make plans Mon the 27th so we can celebrate. I'm going to fix and picnic and then he wants to go shopping at the army/navy store. Fun!
Okay, I am a plumber. We got two connector things at HD today and went down into the dungeon armed with a hacksaw, a five gallon bucket, a 8' section of square tubing, a 4' section of a broom handle, a screw driver, and a deburring tool.
Cut into the plumbing right by the t where the wash machine comes in at. Established that water was draining fine through there and through the kitchen sink.
Cut into the plumbing right in front of where it joined the old iron pipe two feet before a 90* elbow that dropped into the main sewer line. That two feet was so blocked that we had to pound on it with the square metal tubing. Finally got stuff breaking up a bit and we were able to scoop it back out into the bucket rather than pushing it toward the elbow.
Then we took the garden hose and finished cleaning it all out to make sure that from the elbow to the sewer was clean too. (Used the hose like a snake.)
Who know how many years of build up was caused because of some very rough edges of where the pvc met the old iron pipe. SO GROSS!!!! and the smell...
But, we did it. Deburred all 4 ends that needed to go back together and then got cleaned up. Proud that we did it but I for sure don't want to be a plumber when I grow up!
