Thanks Java, I think you are right...more roughage and more water.

I think it might be partially premenstrual 'fluff'...but not completely. We'll see in another week or so huh? LOL

Yup, me too! Mine are about 2 inches high now!

Dace you are preaching to the choir! I did read that Sally Fallon said this might happen when you make the switch. Are you getting enough healthy oils like coconut oil?

I too am battling the bulge that I aquired this spring (where it came from I have no idea!! Age, stress from moving 2300 miles away, who knows?) so I am paying real close attention to the carb intake right now and I am stuffing myself with raw crunchy veggies and lots of soups filled with veggies. I have leveled off and I am beginning to feel some relief in my jeans. Hang in there. I have also been walking 4 miles per day in the hills and on the weekends I picked up my walks to 8 miles a day (two hours). I also have tons of farm animals, a 12 year old and a nice garden, so I am constantly moving around during the day.

I FOUND KOMBUCHA, ORGANIC AND RAW!!!!!

:weee :weee :weee :weee

FYI I got it at Fred Meyer in the "organics" section. I bought two bottles JIC.

I'm getting there! I have my black beans soaking in a whey and water mix. I have more almonds soaking in water.

I fould corn chips with three ingrediants: corn, corn oil and salt. I also found "ww pastery flour" at Fred Meyer...been lookin for that EVERYWHERE! Now I can make your cracker recipe free.

I have ginger waiting to be made into a "beer" and I'm making my new recipe (thanks freemotion) of Itallian Wedding Soup (with my homemade simmered for over 24 hours with bones, ACV and skin) for lunch today. (I didn't make it last night..went and had sushi with a friend instead.)

Now, please, please tell me what you are taking in the form of supplements..have you mentioned that yet? Been trying to keep up with these posts, but you know how it goes, you step away and miss something.

Whew, look what happens when I am away for too many hours....and I have to post and run! The swiss chard pie is here: http://www.sufficientself.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=2468&p=3 and it is post #27.

My supplement info is in this thread, post # 82. Please, anyone reading this, don't go on an internet search if you want to try these supplements, check with me via e-mail first. I can cut you a deal. They look pricey but have a proven 95% bioavailability, which in the supplement industry is simply unheard of. Don't mean to sound like a commercial, but.....this is what I do, part-time, and I have read the research. The studies are solid. 'Nuff said. ;)

Yay for the kombucha! I am anxious to hear the reports on the formation of your first scoby!

And yet another exciting day in the food life of me....

Wednesday, July 23, 2009

Supplements
pint of goat's milk hot (warm) chocolate (yum-Yum-YUM!)
fruit/veggie shake with three egg yolks, raw
two kosher dogs, straight up
steamed brocolli and carrots with butter
in-shell peanuts

Probably got only 8-9 servings of fruits/veggies today, very low carb day....felt I needed to, after all that corn this week. It was also a day of driving and sitting around, as I had appointments to take care of ME for a change, then Bible study tonight. So not much physical energy expended today, so I tried to adjust my eating accordingly. Could've used some fresh crunchy veggies, just didn't have time. The shake had them, I just felt I missed the crunch. The cukes in the garden are just a few feet away from where I sit, but....look at the time!

Hello freemotion!

I made a nice black bean soup (lacto fermented in whey and a bit of yogurt that glugged in by accident) with bacon, onions and carrots from my garden. I'm going to top it with a bit of cheddar and some plain whole fat yogurt and chives (also from my garden).

Ooooo, yum!!! Isn't it so satisfying?

Today it is rainy (AGAIN!) and I feel like putting on a few pounds! It was a stressful day, with training someone to milk for me when I go away for three days, and then Ginger Peach had an injured foot/leg when I went out to feed her this morning. She seems ok now, but of course, I was convinced when I found her that it was broken and would need thousands of dollars in vet bills and it would get amputated anyways and we would lose the house and have to eat her to survive. Welcome to my brain. I scare myself sometimes....

Supplements
Cold chocolate goat's milk (the trainee's took the warm milk home with them as a thank you)
3 eggs, scrambled with butter
A veggie/fruit shake with 3 egg yolks
Cukes fresh from the vine, eaten in the garden, unwashed!
Fried zucchini experiments, below

10-12 servings of veggies/fruit

So I wanted to try frying up some zucchini. I don't like zucchini, but it is so foolproof to grow and that dark green skin is nutrient-rich, so I grow a bunch and hide it in things. I usually end up shredding gallons of it and freezing it, sneaking it into spaghetti sauce and winter soups, stews, and casseroles. And catfood!

I chose three young-ish zukes and shredded two of them, squeezed the water out of some and dropped it into hot chicken fat (wish I had some bacon fat or lard, but alas!) Not super happy with the results, so I went to the next step, batter.

I made a batter with two eggs, salt and pepper, sesame seeds and whole wheat flour (soft white wheat for pastry flour, made previously.) I sliced the third zuke on the diagonal and battered up and fried the slices. That made the dog curl up at my feet ("See how good I am???") and he even allowed one of the cats to sit right next to him, actually touching his back. He was determined to prove what a good boy he was being, and you know how cats like to torment the dog!

These were much better, quite tasty, and I still had some batter left over and some shredded zucchini, so I stirred the two together, and made three patties and dropped them in the fat to brown. Those were good, too, but a bit greasier. I gave a big chunk of one of those to the two good boys at my feet. They gobbled them right up!

Oh, and while I was pulling out the pan from the closet, I found an OOOOLLLLLD bag of Hershey's Nuggets stuck behind one of the shelves, slipping down in the little space behind the shelf and the wall. Five nuggets in that bag. Five nuggets now in my tummy! Yuk. Why do I do that ? Scroll up and read about Ginger Peach today....that is why!
