This is NOT a complaint - but it's HOT. Ok, it's 80. Not really hot, but certainly hot for December. Not getting a lot done today because of appointments this morning and another one this afternoon. Had to put DH's car in for repair. There's some kind of expensive sensor on one of his wheels and it controls stuff like his cruise control... I don't get it, but this is at least the 3rd time it's gone out over the years. It's previously always been covered by warranty - but now it's not. Bye- bye $1K+. Sheesh. Looking at other alternatives for transportation, lol. Maybe a mini horse drawn buggy? A bicycle? Hoverboard? I dunno...but right now I'm tired of cars. Have an appt tomorrow to check out a new to us car but I think I'm going to cancel. We don't really want a different vehicle - we like the ones we have. But, this is a repeat problem with his car. Ugh.

Got one of the raised beds planted yesterday with some greens and radishes. Put some lettuce seeds in a largish container. I'm going to plant some ginger soon. I cut the rhizome into several pieces that are already starting to sprout. After the callous over a little bit I'll plant 'em. I will probably need to baby it through the winter season - but I think I can do that. Maybe...

Heading out to DH's doc appt.

sounds like find another mechanic time if they can't resolve the problem by now.

i would also send a letter with the history to the manufacturer asking them to cover the expense. a previous issue with the same thing means that there is some fundamental problem going on there and they should know. also, it only takes how much to write a letter and a stamp and envelope, much less than $1k... worth a shot. :)

Nice advice on contacting the manufacturer. I hope she has better luck than me. Years ago I had a lawn tractor (think bambi) that was less than 10 years old. Could not keep it running. 2 years of in and out of service, ended up talking to the VP of customer service. His final statement...sir it's almost 10 years old, you should just buy a new one. I said I will, from your competitors.

We go to the only place that will work on Volvo's - the dealership. Good idea on writing a letter. When I bought this car I wrote a letter to the owner of the dealership because the salesmen were jerking me around. Owner didn't like what was going on, sided with me, so I took the win on that one.

Thanks for the suggestion. I can complain with the best of 'em.

our last experience with the most local Subaru dealer pretty much was it for me and Mom. they performed work we didn't authorize (flushing the brake lines) and then were going to charge for it. we told them that we didn't request that work at all to begin with, in the process they stripped one of the lug nuts and quoted a price to us to fix it of $11. um, ok, let's just suck this one up and get the heck out of here. bill came to $28 not $11. what?! no, we'll never go back. when the place called us a few days later to take a poll on their service i laughed very hard and hung up on him.

the whole reason we were there was to get warranty work done that should not have cost us anything.

we found another mechanic. he's doing good so far. reasonable rates, does what needs to be done, doesn't pull BS.

i think it is well worth it considering the history.

Got a few things accomplished today. Ran a couple errands this morning including picking up the car and getting feed. Got home, had lunch and then busted outside to try not to get any further behind.

I finally got the tarp cover on the buck's shelter. They're pretty much ready for rain and wind as long as it comes from the north. I should really put some kind of barrier on the west wall - but that can wait a couple days. It's a decent wind break and rain cover but earlier this year when we got into single digits they got moved into a real barn. Hope we don't get anything like that this winter.

Also finally got the does CDT shots. I vaccinated everybody except Emily because she won't kid until March/April-ish. Too early to do hers. Really glad to have both of those chores marked off the list. Hopefully tomorrow I can get back to some garden chores. I have no reason why I'm so motivated, but I should work with it while I can. Maybe because our weather is so cooperative for a change. Not too hot, not too cold, not too muddy, not too many mosquitos. It's awesome I tell you - just awesome.

i know, i feel the same way when either fall or spring gives us the right weather where you can work pretty hard and still not overheat yourself in the process and it feels so good and satisfying to see something accomplished and if like me you tend to work in projects that can take many parts to finish then having items crossed off the list as you go along really provides motivation. i'm very task oriented so my brain really lights up with joy juice when i can cross an item off the list. :)
