. It did but, a goat owner knows better! Maybe one in a million likes/allows it.

Sorry about MIL. Glad other sickies are doing better. Surely the tests are some you bought! Uncle lied about the freebies....what's new?

Well, well, well - herd reduction in action today. Notice I didn't say goat herd, lol. Four of the 6 pigs that lived here are gone now. One is in my ice chest and will go in my freezer soon. The other three are going home with a guy who has been buying pigs from me for several years now. Yay! The feed bill just went way down. The two that are left are going to get another month or so of groceries and they will have a going away party too.

MIL is still hospitalized but seems to be slowly showing a bit of improvement.

I'm thrilled with less piggies! I think I can supplement the two remaining with kitchen scraps which will keep the feed bill down also. One of them is almost butcher ready and the other one isn't far behind. I like them to have a good layer of fat so I'm gonna encourage them to be pigs, lol.

Raine, one of the ES's, met the Myotonic bucklings up close and personal yesterday. Let's just say they weren't thrilled - and they proved what good fainting goats they really are.

We're going to meet with DH's brother and sister for lunch and then do some visiting with MIL.

I went up to the garage apartment yesterday to get something and was reminded that I have canning jars up there.... yay! Three cases of new regular mouth pint jars and random and numerous quart jars. They're a little dusty, but nothing that some soap and water won't take care of. Yay!

It's been a crazy busy, and sad few days. DH's mom passed yesterday. She'd been sick for a few days, had surgery and just couldn't come out of it. DH is busy planning the service.

I've been cutting up pig - that couldn't wait. Most of it is in the freezer now. I deboned the shoulders this morning and will pressure can those tomorrow.

Starting to sort through the babies. I decided this morning on a doeling that I can turn loose of. A MIRACLE - I know, lol. I'll be moving the bucklings also. With the doeling and the 4 bucklings gone in a few weeks that'll help. I've got at least two grown does that will also move away. Having the 4 pigs gone is already helping with the feed bill. Next on the list will be some drakes. Never butchered a duck before but I'm gonna at least give it a try.

We're still getting cold snaps here and there so not terribly worried about getting the garden in right now. It'll happen soon enough. Being blessed with a long growing season comes in handy for sure. I plan on putting in a couple new raised beds. It'll happen when it happens...

Thanks ya'll - she was a special lady. But - she was 90. Seemingly in good health but at that age when one thing goes wrong there seems to be an avalanche of other things that follow suit.

Decided to go ahead and run a load of pork chunks through the canner today. Will probably need to do a second batch tomorrow. I'll be glad to have this chore finished.
