Frantically knocking down spider webs from the corners and sweeping the floor....

Wine glasses are clean, hot tub is hot - so let the party begin! :)

Had another busy day, but spent more time inside than I wanted to. The laundry monster just kept growing and growing - so I had to knock him down to size. Ran the vacuum too - ugh. Cleaned the kitchen - again. Put some milk in the freezer, and started a batch of cheese.

Speaking of 'monsters' - I was attacked by one of my roos today. I was absolutely shocked! How dare he! I was in the pen with the Silver Gray Dorkings, getting an egg out of a nest box when I scared one of the hens. She screamed and he came to her defense....guess I can't really blame him - but he won't get too many more chances at that. I won't tolerate a bad roo - especially in a rare breed I'm trying to help restore. I guess he doesn't know that I've got three more replacements in another pen.

My outside chores today didn't stack up to what I got done yesterday. But, I trimmed some goat feet. I cleaned some more garden debris out of the front garden and finally got some plants in the ground for my fall garden. I have at least a dozen broccoli plants tucked in. and tomorrow I'll plant the cabbages and onions and maybe some lettuces.

I spent about an hour with a co-worker who came to get some goat milk, ummm, for her dogs, lol! We had a nice chat and I told her that the milk supply is dwindling and that I'm gonna dry up the girls before my trip in January. She assured me that her dogs would be disappointed, but they'd be ok.

I'm firmly planted on the couch right now - waiting for the second half of the UT game - GO LONGHORNS!

Maybe I should just bring the bread to your place!

I'm so glad that it isn't going to be raining tomorrow so that I can get outside and get caught up with garden/yard projects. I'm glad for the inch of wet stuff we've gotten over the past 2 days but I am sooo ready to get outside and play! :D

We're supposed to get it today. I made sure everything that needed to be done in my field w/a tractor was done yesterday.

Dawn - I'd like mine toasted with butter, please! :)

Woke up to a low of 58 degrees. Not exactly frigid - but nice enough.

DH should be home mid-day. :D Okay - true confessions.... I miss him when he's not here - BUT - I got so much more done with him gone than I would have if he were home. Why is that? No distractions maybe....

Not sure what's on my 'to do' list for today. I need to put the last load of laundry away, empty the dishwasher, and hang some cheese to drip, go out and milk and try to get some more of the garden planted.... LOL - well, I guess at least part of my 'to do' list just got figured out. Before I can even start my chores I need to get some fed out of the SUV.... Pig feed and corn never got unloaded Friday and and I need the pig feed this morning - so that's first.

Today marks 3 weeks that the piggies have been here and I've used one bag of pig feed so far. I've been fermenting some corn/dry mix for them and giving them boiled eggs, whey, and odd bits of milk and other stuff. I had an old box of instant mashed potatoes left from when my son lived here (yuck) that I fixed for the pigs yesterday and mixed a few eggs in with 'em - piggies thought it was manna. Today they will get a box of baby rice cereal. I kept baby food around so my DD didn't have to pack so much when she came to visit - and the youngest is beyond baby food now - so piglets will get it. Don't laugh - but the last batch of chili had a jar of baby sweet potatoes and another jar of baby carrots hidden in it, lol! What DH doesn't know won't hurt him!

Finished my coffee....time to get busy!

Whew - half a day down and tired already - break time!

Unloaded the feed, milked goats, fed pigs, hung the cheese, and started on the garden. Got the broccoli in the ground last night, and today I planted cabbages. I planted regular cabbage and for the first time I'm trying some napa cabbage also. It's so darn good in kimchi. I have a Korean friend who makes the best darn kimchi so I'm going to try to duplicate hers.

I took the lazy way out and used the tiller to break through the crust so that I can get my onions and lettuce planted. I should finish that after my little break. I'm still thinking about/threatening to till up an empty pen and just throw a myriad of cool season seeds out there for a grazing garden for pigs and chickens - assuming it would even grow....

I've got freshly roasted garlic in the oven to mix in with the cheese when it's ready - and I'll finely chop some rosemary to go with it too. It's our favorite flavor blend for the cheese. It's great melted on pork, crumbled in salad, or spread on a cracker. Geeze, I'm making myself hungry - guess I should think about lunch while I'm taking my break.

DH is home! Whoopie! I can stop worrying now.

I finished planting my little fall garden. I have several different greens, lettuces, cabbages and I'm trying carrots - again. I've never, ever in all my years of gardening had a successful carrot crop. So, I'll try them as a fall crop this year and see if that's any better.

I finally stopped thinkng about it and did it. While I had the tiller out I took it out to a back pen and scraped the ground with it. Piglets followed in my wake and enjoyed themselves to no end, rooting through everything. I don't know what's up with these pigs - they are CRAZY! I'll never get any meat off of 'em because they run it off. They are absolutely hilarious to watch! I'll make another pass through that pen in a day or so - or next weekend more likely - and toss out a bunch of seeds and see what happens.

Today has been the weirdest day - none of my animals are hungry! What? Did I miss something? Is it the apocalypse, or the rapture - did the SHTF while I wasn't looking, or is it TEOTWAWKI? Pigs who ignore their feed pan? Goats who are NOT screaming for food when I go outside. Chicken feeders that are not empty? WHAT's GOING ON????? Guess I'll just relax and ignore it. Maybe I should go on the "what did you do today to save money" and report that I saved a bundle on animal feed.
