Thanks Dawn - I like it when he's home.

My face hurts! The whole left side of my face - and I can't decide if I have a toothache or my TMJ is acting up....whatever it is... I don't like it! Guess I'll cal the dentist tomorrow...ugh. I HATE going to the dentist. :(

Nothing exciting going on around here right now. Working on the 'to do' list for next weekend. Need to wether a couple little bucks and keep trimming feet whenever I can. I try to do a few each weekend.

I got about 15 eggs today. Some of the spring pullets are finally laying. Then there's the crazy white faverolle hen.... She acts like she's going broody, but she's never in the same place twice. She gets that broody stare and sits and sits, but she's too dumb to actually sit ON the eggs... she'll sit close to them sometimes, sometimes she just sits in a pile of hay....but never really on an egg. Can you say - challenged?

Think I'm gonna go put my face on a heating pad and wait for the pain pill to kick in.

:hugs Hope the dentist can help ya!

I have a couple of 'challenged' brooders - they sit on the eggs for a while, then toss them out, one by one :/

Hey, I have a dopey question for ya - how do you roast garlic? Do you peel it first, or leave it whole with the 'skin' on? Can I use a new clay flowerpot/tray, instead of one of those fancy roasters that cost a fortune? What temp? How long? See, I am clueless :p

Thanks for the well wishes!

It's the weirdest thing - this 'illness' that I have - two of my coworkers have it too and all of us hurt worse in our mouths! It starts in the ear, goes through the mouth and extends down into the glands under the jaw. And, lucky me developed a nausea aspect also. Slept all night last night and most of the day today. My husband (the nurse) has himself convinced that I've got West Nile, lol. There have been a lot of cases in Texas this year, and there were a couple in our county...geeze. I do fit all the symptoms though - headache, swollen glands, overwhelming tiredness, muscle stiffness....geeze, maybe he's right! I'm too mean to get real sick though - so I'm not terribly worried, lol!

SS - roasting garlic isn't hard at all and you don't need any special equipment. I take the whole head of garlic, (no peeling, no separating cloves) lay it on it's side and chop off the bottom of the entire head - maybe 1/2 inch or so. You want to be able to drizzle some olive oil down into the cloves - so what you're doing is just giving yourself access to the cloves. Then I take a square of tin foil and set the head of garlic in the middle, cut side up, and bring up all the sides of foil around the garlic. I don't completely wrap it up though - just kind of loosely wrap it and put it in the oven. The last time I roasted it at 325 because I had something else in there at that temp - but it'll go faster the hotter the oven is, of course. No set time because it depends on how big your head of garlic is. It does take longer than you'll think - maybe 45 minutes or so at 350 maybe only 35 minutes at 400. I just check it often. It'll turn kind of golden brown but the real test is when it gets as soft as butter. You'll be able to take a clove of garlic and just squeeze it and the garlic deliciousness will just ooze out of it. Yummy stuff!

Thanks for the cooking help FEM! :D

The cluster of the same symptoms in your office seems strange - if it is West Nile, that would be even weirder :/

WEll, we are definitely a 'unique' group of women, lol! At least the first round is over and our carrier survived whatever it is - but now I might have to kill her for passing it on!

Sick people have no business bringing germs to work with them - argh!
