Thanks ya'll!

A vitrectomy sounds so gross - I really hope he doesn't have to have one. It's where they take out all the natural fluid inside your eyeball and replace it with something like saline. His vision right now is screwed up because there's blood floating inside the natural eye fluid which blocks his vision and actually casts shadows within his field of vision that really throw him off.

I do think he's just a bit too impatient with this whole process. I did some research and found some info yesterday that says the blood within his eyeball can only be reabsorbed by the body at about 1% per day. I think that put it more into perspective for him and made him relax a bit about the process.

No idea why the piglet passed except that he was breathing very fast so my guess is something respiratory, lol. My powers of deduction are awesome, right?

I think the best thing for the little goat right now would be to put a buddy with her. Had one with her the first few days but because she was feeling so poorly the other goat was beating up on her. So, I'll try again with a younger goat and maybe they'll get along better.

Maybe another goat next to her fence? Could quiet her until they were ok together, maybe.

Well, DH may now want to "wait & see"...no pun intended...as to how long it takes for him to have improvement. If it progresses well, then he may be able to wait a while for any procedure. Seems with bleeds, they recur, so wouldn't that mean the saline would need changed out? That's a bad thought. Does the saline allow reabsorption and is it faster/slower than the "original parts" type of fluid? You can see I look for other answers:cool:

RIP piggy.

That does sound gross! Ugh! I hope his eyeballs see less needles in the foreseeable future... Cause that cannot be fun.

I don't actually know all that much about pig diseases/issues. Knock on wood we've never had a sick pig. Sorry about your piglet, either way.

One of my minis almost really hurt herself yesterday. I had her on a lead trying to walk her to the stand to do her hooves and when she walked by the pigs (who were standing at the fence grunting at her, thanks guys), she flipped out and almost got her foot stuck in the fence and flopped and landed on her side. Melodramatic much? Scared me. Guess I know better than to get her too close to the pigs! She almost got to hang with your doeling in solitary hospital confinement!

Oh wow, @NH Homesteader that is dramatic! I've heard a lot of horses not liking pigs. Except on my route to work there is a full sized horse that hangs with two LARGE black pigs... It's hilarious to see. They introduced a couple more horses into the pasture recently, and the horse and the pigs still hang out by themselves, LOL.

That is hilarious! My goats are also terrible on a lead, I usually play follow the grain lol. And my milkers just come out of the pen and run to the stand. Having so few I don't mind them wandering around a bit.

Goats are weird.

Well, I captured the most obnoxious little goat on my place (a young Nigi) and penned her with the injured doe and they seem to be doing ok together. :fl Time will tell...

All of a sudden, DH says he notices that there is some improvement in his field of vision. Yay! AND - he drove to work this morning. I was on pins and needles until he told me that he got there safely. It has been foggy in the mornings most of the week - but it was clear today so he did it! Takes a bit of pressure off of me and gives me back an extra hour a day that I was spending on driving him. Might still have to pitch in if the fog returns - which is pretty frequently this time of year.

I need March and kidding season to get here! I'm almost out of milk in the freezer. I have about a weeks worth left and then we will be looking for alternatives...ugh. I get so accustomed to the goat milk that I can hardly tolerate anything else. Not a big milk drinker - but really love it in my coffee.

Sometimes I just shake my head....

Here's an email from one of our administrators:

"We will be having some boiler work performed tomorrow that should be completed by the end of the day. I would encourage you to make sure you have some extra coats, sweaters etc. as we will not be able to heat the buildings while this work is being performed. The weather app on my phone is forecasting a high of 45 tomorrow. We do apologize for this inconvenience."

And actually, the forecast has changed and now they are calling for a high of 39. SERIOUSLY???

I will SERIOUSLY be wearing sweats with wunder unders to work tomorrow, lol! (and this is one time that I will bring my "illegal" heater out in the open!

Guess I should get some cheese to go with my "whine", lol!

Well, I showed them- I took the day off! We actually got another email right before 5 that they were going to postpone the work on the heating system. Wanna know why? Over half of the employees and faculty were going to take off, lol. (Classes haven't started back yet so we could get away with it.) There really is strength in numbers.
I decided to go ahead and keep my vacation day just to get some things done before our freeze tonight. Yep, 28 is our forecast and while that's nothing for most of you folks- it's not normal for here! I've been moving some critters, re-bedding pens and getting ready to put out a bunch of hay. Gracie will sleep inside tonight. Maddie and Cowboy will get a nice warm dinner. Forecast for next week- highs near 80. Lol. Bi-polar Texas weather,..

It'll be 16F tonight and the next couple of nights..... ice on all the water troughs and buckets. Hauled boiling water in a bucket so animals could get a drink this morning. Mid week it will be in the 70's.....
