Been crazy and hectic around here lately - geeze louise! DH's eye is still an issue. Not sure how driving is going to be for him.

I had to do some fence work earlier this week to keep crazy Cowboy in the fence while we went to DD's to collect the grandchildren. We were supposed to go up Christmas afternoon, but actually delayed the trip by a day so I could take care of that little problem, lol. It took me most of the day on Monday - but at least it's keeping him in!

That afternoon while feeding the goats I noticed that one of them wasn't coming up. Went over to where she was and found her holding up her left rear leg and not taking any weight on it. Got a splint on it that evening and went to the vet first thing Tuesday morning and sure enough - it's broken. Soooo, left her at the vet's office, headed off to DD's house (4+ hour drive) and back home Wednesday morning, with three grandkiddos. Got home and unloaded DH and the grands and went to collect the little doeling - complete with a brand new cast that she's none too happy about. But, at least she's alive and still has 4 legs!

We've got lots of activities planned for the kiddos while they're here. I'm sure I'll be exhausted by the time they go home and will go back to work next week plumb tuckered out. So much for the "relaxing" holiday, lol! But, all in all the time off is still much appreciated.

That little broken legged doe is officially driving me crazy, lol. And we've got weeks to go... With one good leg and one in a cast this little gal can jump over a four foot fence. What is going on with the critters around here? I'm raising a whole pasture full of fence jumpers, from dogs to goats. Only the pigs don't jump things - they just walk right through, lol!

I heard from an old friend (who I thought I had lost touch with) a week or so ago who has been reading my posts. This friend commented that DH and I seem to have had a rough year. It dawned on me then that I must only talk about the 'bad' stuff. I'll try to remedy that as much as possible. (except that DH has Gout in his left foot now - just had to throw that in there.) Not laughing because of his gout - just laughing because I can't leave it out.

Spent 5 wonderful days with the grands. Only small problem (here I go again) was that DGD1 had an allergic reaction to 'something' starting the first day. Had to be a contact allergy because only her face was affected. She woke up Thursday morning with her eyes nearly swollen shut and bright red cheeks, ears, and chin. She spent her first day here sucking down Benadryl and with a cool compress on her face.

But, it didn't slow us down! We took them to a really nice light festival/carnival called "magical winter lights" in a town close by. It really was really a magical experience for them.

Next day to their favorite play space and on to a Chinese buffet lunch that they MUST eat at every time they're in town. Saturday night we were off to my DS's house where he put on a great feed, and an even more spectacular firework show. The money this boy (man) set on fire....sheesh! But, it was awesome - traffic was stopped on the street watching! Met my DD halfway yesterday and did the kiddo exchange. So quiet in my house today...

We got 2.26 inches of rain a couple days ago and more storms forecast for this morning. Yay! Not...

Back to work tomorrow. Sad to see the holiday go, but not too upset about getting back into a routine again. Won't be too long before spring break and kidding season! :weee

Sometimes you need to talk about the bad stuff to get it off your chest. I totally understand. I'm often not journaling here unless I've got bad stuff to talk about either, LOL.
Glad you had fun with the kiddos!
Crazy goat! Glad she's doing well, despite the cast!!

Sorry about your husband. He's having a rough go of it isn't he?

Poor little doe, at least she's still getting around! Too much... Lol

He sure has! He seems to have a gout flare-up a couple times a year. There are going to be some serious diet changes starting right now! Thankfully he's feeling better today. Tart/sour cherry juice is a really good treatment for gout and it works to help him every time. He may have to add that to his daily routine which should help prevent it in the first place...

I'm going to spend some time in the kitchen today cooking up some low carb, easy to grab and go breakfast treats so I'm not tempted by the local drive through and get something unhealthy before work. Maybe some coconut pancakes and some egg 'muffins'. Gotta get on a healthier routine myself.

Did I mention that I got a Rumba for Christmas? :celebrate There's something really cool about sitting and playing on the computer while 'the robot' cleans the floors, lo!

Well, DH tried to drive this morning for the first time since his eye bleed right before Christmas. Since we were both off for the Holidays I've been doing all the driving. Heck, I usually do anyway when we go somewhere together. So, he left the house about 6am this morning and was back home about 6:30. His depth perception is off and he just didn't feel safe. Sooooo, looks like I'll be driving him for a while longer. Kinda screws up the routine at home - but I can't see another way to do it. There have been noises made about a vitrectomy, but after doing research I'd like him to put it off for as long as possible.

Farm news: Bad news is that I lost a piglet last night. I found it lethargic and breathing heavily last night. It already looked bad, but I gave an antibiotic injection anyway. It had passed by this morning.

Good news is that the young doeling with the broken leg is doing well. Appetite good, good attitude, and jumping ability still intact... geeze! If it weren't so wet I'd be tempted to throw her back out in the pasture.

What is a vitrectomy? Bummer for him and you. Losing eyesight, and depth perception, is a very scary thing.

Sorry about the piglet. Any idea what happened?

Your doeling is going to go nuts, and drive you nuts in the process!

Screwed up depth perception really does make it hard to drive. (Been there from injury)

I hope his eye sight gets better quickly
