Thanks Deb! I did a little research and found out that it's common for a plane to get struck once a year! In my book, that's still pretty rare. It was scary, but all in all, I'd rather have that than really bad turbulence.

My place is sooo bad.... the mud is worse than it's been in years. I wore my 'big' boots out to feed; the ones that are knee high. It's a good thing.... The pig pen is sooooo bad that i kept getting stuck while trying to refill their feeder! I had to shoo the pigs out of that pen because I was afraid I'd fall down and they'd eat me, lol.

At times like this I wonder why I have animals. It's so nasty and I feel like I'm not doing right by the critters. DH keeps asking me if I'd be happier if they were in the house with us, lol. Maybe....:/ I just hate to feel like they're not 100% comfortable.

On the other hand, seed catalogs are coming in right and left - woo hoo! I'm getting so excited about the upcoming garden possibilities. It's not too early to start thinking about spring is it?

I had a friend have a horse get stuck on Tuesday. She was afraid she was going to lose her, but she's fine, just a bit stiff.

Glad you had a good time and that you are home and safe! We have had a little over 7 inches rain the last few days. Flooded out roads and drives and pastures! You need to rest up from your homecoming trials!

Thanks Snapshot!

Deb, glad to hear the horse is ok!

I wish I had time to rest up, lol. I moved the 20+ Barred Hollands again today. They must truly be the least intelligent chicken breed I've ever owned. I had to take them out of the pen I just moved them into about two weeks ago because they wouldn't go into the shelter. So, I moved them into the buck's pen today. At least they're out of the mud, but it'll be a miracle if they use the shelter there either. Again I say - no wonder they're so endangered! And, just to add insult to injury I must have eaten about a cup of mud and 'slop' while I was catching them. They coudn't just give up - NO - they had to flop and kick and throw mess and mud everywhere - and plenty of it went into my mouth and eyes. YUCK!

I had put Red's babies with her while we were gone so they'd keep her milked out. Now mind you, her 'babies' are 9 months old, but she still allows them to nurse. But, they couldn't keep up with her so I had to milk her out Wednesday when we got home at almost midnight. As soon as the pressure was off, she lets them start nursing again. So, tomorrw they'll go back out in the pasture and I'll start milking twice a day again.

I think I'm going to kick the pigs out of their pen tomorrow too. It's soooo nasty. I know they're pigs, but I can't stand seeing them in all that mud. I've got plenty of pasture for them to run around in. The only reason I haven't turned them out already is that I know pigs and goats won't happily co-exist at feeding time. I forsee lots of ticked off critters, but I'll figure something out.

It started drizzling this afternoon and it's really supposed to pick up tomorrow. They're predicting several more inches (at least) and some nice cold weather to go along with it. Geeze.....

Hope someone, somewhere isn't dealing with all this nastiness.

It's been a pretty rough day today... I had leg cramps last night and never slept more than an hour at a time....grrrrr. Got outside about 7:30 to try and mitigate the effects of all the rain and mud. It's soooo nasty out there.

I took a leap of faith and just turned the pigs out into the pasture. Most of my fence is new, but we've still got to finish two areas and I was afraid the pigs would find the weak spots and be gone, but they behaved themselves. Well, except for one little incdent with the guard dog. I was giving the pigs some boiled eggs to help them remember that they like to run towards me instead of away from me (helps when I try to catch them again). Mattie decided that SHE deserved the eggs more than the pigs did and they commenced to tussling. They each rolled the other over a couple of times with me standing there screaming at 'em.... not that they listened. While Mattie and one of the pigs were 'working it out' the other pig ate all the eggs. End of fight...

DH has had the brunt of the rough day. He often times "forgets" to check his blood sugar so I kind of insisted that he do so this morning. It was so high that his meter wouldn't register it! The meter goes up to 500, I think, and he was above that! He started injecting insulin every couple of hours until it came down - too far. I tell him and tell him that he should have a snack, but nope! When his blood glucose is that out of whack he can kind of forget to listen to me - go figger. So, on top of his glucose being high this morning, he had to endure a hypoglycemic episode this afternoon. He's napping right now - poor darlin'! Diabetes is such a horriffic disease!

On a brighter note, I've got steaks on the grill - and I'm HUNGRY! There's a squash casserole in the oven - made from this summer's garden, and some broccoli that I'm about to steam that I just picked about 15 minutes ago. I'm really looking forward to tonight's dinner!

Better go check the steaks - can't go past that medium rare point!

Next time you get leg cramps at night, try drinking some milk.

I tried coconut water and it helped for awhile, but they came back. I'll try your suggestion, thanks!

You're welcome. I had leg cramps when I was pregnant w/my DD and that's what the doctor recommended. It worked well. And I'll still use it if I get leg cramps at night.
