I have a pair of regular Salmon Faverolles, and also a Blue Salmon Faverolle roo who has a hen of his own. And, I have a trio of Whites. I may eventually have eggs that I can part with, but it'll probably be spring. :)

Just shoot me now! I'm thinking about purchasing another buck....just what I need! But, I'm having trouble getting the Nubian does bred to Short Stuff, the pygmy. I did succeed in getting one bred last year - but I had a bigger buck then. Unfotunately, he was at least 9 days older than dirt and and I lost him in the heat this past summer. Short Stuff tries and tries, but OMG it's a struggle for him and the girls don't wanna stand...geeze louise. SO.... I found the cutest little boer (type) guy that is very reasonably priced. Not sure he's 100%, but all I care about right now is that he's tall enough to reach the ladies.

Here he is if anybody has any ideas: http://houston.craigslist.org/grd/3482739789.html

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! Just talked to the guy and he said he sold him within a couple hours of posting the ad.... A day late - just my luck...:( I'm bummed! I already had those imaginary spotted babies on the ground! Now I'm on a mission - I want a spotted boer goat.

PEOPLE! Sometimes they just annoy me - to put it mildly!

So, yesterday I was on a mission to get a spotted boer buck. Unfortunately, when I talked to the owner I found out the little goat was already sold. Just my luck, right? But not a huge deal - I'll just keep looking. Last night I'm on Craigslist looking when an ad caught my eye.

It says: GOAT SELLERS BEWARE.... I open it up and read it. It's posted by the same guy who was selling the boer buck I wanted. It says "Beware of Luis when you are selling your goats. He came to my house, bought my goats, handed my wife some money and drove off before she could count the money. (Luis had obviously shortchanged the wife) Then the ad says: here is his phone number so you'll know who he is. He lists MY PHONE NUMBER! What the he**???????

My number was in his call list because I'd talked to him - but he put the wrong number in his ad. I even got a harassing text last night accusing me of being a goat thief - of all things! I texted the guy last night and sent him an email (thankfully I had his info) and told him about his mistake. I get NO response. So, this morning I sent him another email - nicely worded - but warning him that he is, at this point, guilty of libeling ME! I also called him again - of course he didn't answer. I left him a friendly, but firm message warning that my number needed to come OFF of that Craigslist posting.

So, after mentioning the "libel" word I finally get a text and an email back from him apologizing profusely and promising to change the ad. I checked - and he did change it. But, DANG! After he apologized I texted him back and told him that I understand mistakes happen, and it was hard, but I even wished him a happy holiday.... sigh.........

Back to my regularly scheduled life now, lol. Thank goodness.

i ALWAYS count money before people leave! i always say something like "its not that i dont trust you but accidents happen" and on a couple occasions i had MORE money than needed and gave them the extra back. and i dont take checks anymore either.

sorry you had to go threw that. :hugs he should have double and triple checked that # before he posted!

hubby gave the ok that if we can find a spotted goat at a reasonable price we can get one.:celebrate

do you have facebook- and if so do you have any goat groups in your area? there are several here. and they have a few spotted goats for sale, just hoping they will have them after the holidays.

I agree - you ALWAYS have to count your money! I refrained from telling the guy that because I figure he'd already given his wife a hard time and I didn't see any reason to rub it in, lol. I'm sure they've already had that discussion!

I really don't do facebook, but maybe I should check it out. I know a LOT of goat people in my area but mostly folks like me - with mostly pygmy goats. I haven't tiptoed into the Boer world - yet. I was sharing a website with DH last night. It mentioned that a buck can weigh from 220 - 300 lbs. He (and I) were amazed! Dat's a big dang goat, lol!

I've contacted another person about an ad I saw. He's got spotted goats too, but he's selling a herd (small herd of 8) and I really don't want that many more goats. His buck is traditional Boer, but he's got some spotted does. Very preliminary at this time, cuz I'm not about to spend 2K, and I don't want 8 more goats.

Good luck finding your spotted goat!

It's crazy windy here today. It's making all the outside chores a real PIA. Traditionally I catch up with a lot of bigger chores while I'm off on Christmas Break. It seems like there's twice as much to be done this year, and half the time. I'm trying to get as much done as I can before I get the grandbabies for a week after Christmas. I'm really looking forward to spending time with them, but I know I won't get much done while they're here. Who cares? Grandbabies are precious!

I've got another batch of Cajeta on the stove cuz I've been giving it as Christmas gifts to co-workers and so has DH. It's nice to put in a basket with a couple pieces of fruit (and maybe a bottle of wine) depending on the recipient. It smells sooooooooo good, and I have a tendency to need to taste it - oops - I should have said - I tend to pay close attention to quality control, lol!

Off to stir the Cajeta and head back outside.
