You all's dogs are gross! lol But then I have seen hoofs for sale in pet shops as dog chews and such.

The property I went to see is lovely. Space for a garden etc, wood fired heating, which is fantastic, but… no chickens :( It's not a not a done deal though, that we're getting it. I'll know more tomorrow.

She said no chickens allowed. Which is odd as the house is on a farm and suitable… That's the problem with renting properties though. Landlords and ladies are fussy over livestock and animals. I'll wait and see where we go with this and if we take the house, I'll talk with her about it again and see if we can come to some agreement. DS is very upset about the prospect of losing his beloved hen. So hopefully, maybe.. :fl We'll see.

The rain here has been brutal on the goats. Neighbor lost 3 to parasites before he knew they were invested.

I've got three does that are currently skeletons. Ugh.

Aw that's really sad! It's been raining a ton here too but it's cool, actually cold at night and it's draining off really well in the goat pen. Everyone is fat and happy, but I'm watching closely.

When it stays wet, warm and humid there's hardly any way to keep them from re-infesting. We had 2.5 inches of rain today for a total of over 8 inches since early May. I don't even have a place to create a dry lot unless I just lock them in the barn and I've got too many to do that! I've got some thin does too but since they're lactating they're not gonna round out for awhile. I had to give them an injection (2 actually) of Ivomec because I think they had mites. Never had that on my goats before. And this was a pretty rough year for lice on the babies too. Goats are a constant battle!

Somebody remind me why we do this? LOL!

I keep catching myself thinking about a Kiko buck to cross on my Nubians... hmmmm...

love, love kikos! Hardiness is now my #1 consideration, which is why I am getting the buck I am getting. He's coming from the same farm as my minis and she has very hardy goats! I am intentionally keeping my herd small also. Remind me of that please.
