Do you always have super rainy springs down there? I'm starting to wonder if summer will ever come. We still are turning the heat on at night (and occasionally all day too).

We generally do have "moist" springs but the last couple years have been ridiculous! We've had 4 inches of rain in the last couple days. We're over 10 inches for the last 5 weeks or so...

We've had 5 inches of rain just this weekend!

I had a 2003 Ford Focus wagon. I could get 750 pounds of horse feed in it and 3 square bales tied on top. I abused that car so badly....finally wrecked it and it died. I got weird looks at the feed store when I told them to load it in the red Ford truck, then I'd argue and tell them it WAS a truck....just not grown up yet! I told my husband, "What's the difference of hauling horse feed or 5 fat people?"

It barely stopped raining here since this morning :( I want to go for a walk and I may well go out and get soaked if this doesn't let up soon.

Trucks here are way to few and far in-between, everyone has vans. Both I've been told requires you to have a VAT number for at least 6 months, in order to get them insured, as they are "commercial vehicles". So spacious cars that can handle abuse it is… For now. I haven't given up on that truck yet!

I couldn't LIVE without my truck... But, I really need to get that cover re-adjusted. Looks like it's going to keep raining on and off most of the day. YUCK!

Row, row, row your boats…

Ours is slowing down, but it doesn't stop, it slows to a drizzle and then gets going again.

Raining here..BUT, early AM, will just off & on mist, I did spread a load of seed into a field I had waiting. Figure rain will get it into the dirt. Lots of Bermuda, trefoil, rape, grazing turnips, Australian peas, clover, etc., etc. We'll see how that goes. Normally it's fine. Warm & wet.

FEED??? My feed bill is in the $6-800 per month. When you have full sized milking goats, it takes a LOT more than a roll of hay. And in my area that hay is triple what you pay for a roll up North or out West. Generally you can't get any that isn't full of chemicals. That's why I end up with mostly square bales. They do better with the alfalfa. My 20 minis don't eat a lot of it even in winter -- many can't eat it due to age even then. So, expensive senior feeds with beet pulp in there. Yes, I have a lot of pasture with soft grasses. Summer does help cut the costs of feed store -- but, those pastures don't just grow without management. Now, the amount of management depends a lot on where you live -- weather!!! And your type of soil, it's health. Here on the coast, no rain for 3 weeks in 95 degree heat can do a number on pasture. Recovery is hard. TX shares this! :barnie

Pouring now. Inside kind of day. :) Brownies may happen.
