Aw FEM sorry things haven't been great. I'm glad you had a good day today at least. It definitely sounds like time to find a place for them. Will they be able to stay together? I don't know how those places work

Maybe someday I'll want some quail! I don't feel like I want them enough to track them down but it would have been fun if we happened upon some. But having Texas quail might be fun, lol!!

Thanks! It's crazy how much better today has been. I guess the universe knew that we had alllll reached our limit! She's been awake more than usual. She's been reality based all day. We even did a Christmas craft together. We took a Styrofoam tree form and a bunch of silk poinsettas with a few embellishments and turned it all into a poinsettia Christmas tree. I told her she could give it to her caretaker as a Christmas gift. It really did turn out cute.

Any place they end up at is going to have to understand that they must stay together. I visited a facility a couple years ago and they said couples were not unusual at all. I'm going to start with a visit to that same place. The first time I visited was for independent living and I need to look again at their Alzheimer's care area.

Just let me know when you want some transplanted Texas quail! (assuming I can keep them caged and alive for awhile, lol)

You keep 'em alive and I'll let you know! Lol

That's good they could stay together. Hope it goes well finding a place, sounds like she at least really needs it.

FEM I so understand what your life is like upside down! You are doing what's right and best by finding assisted living arrangements. Do not feel guilty, it is the correct decision for everyone to receive the proper care & 24/7 help. these homes have shifts of trained people to help & care for the residents. Remember that -- you are buying 24 hr care for them. You can visit anytime.

I know it's still HOT there but, cool here! 33 this AM @6, warmed to 57 late day. Nice weather, sunny, no wind and perfect for my project -- remove & replace 200' of fencing, cleaning /mowing the entire area. Only one post had to be replaced. Got it done, me & the tractor. No doubt I will be sore all over tomorrow!! Already took my Aleve. Back is already feeling the pulling & lifting -- ahhh, that "free gym".

@Mini Horses - You're right. And I know it's the right decision, but good days like today always make me second guess myself. I've got to do it though - at least get the ball rolling. Most facilities here are at capacity because of the hurricane. When old folks got flooded out their families did what they had to do too and placed them in a facility. I'm hoping some of that has eased by now and I'll be able to get them somewhere safe. And yes - we will be paying for the safety and security and MY peace of mind. Try as I might I can't stay awake 24/7 and if/when I do - I'm not fit to be around.

Sounds like you had a DAY! Hard work - yep! Better than paying for it at a gym for sure. I used to have a couple young men (very buff young men) work for me. Gotta admit I felt like a dirty old lady when they'd take their shirts off, lol! But, at the end of every day they worked for me they always said they worked muscles here that they never knew existed! Darn shame they grew up and moved away... :( Best help I ever had!

Weather has been AWESOME here! We've had some mornings in the 30's and mostly topping out in the 70's during the day - 80 on T'giving. I've tried to stay outside as much as possible - in short spurts. Even got mom and dad outside on the back porch some. I hate to say this out loud - but we kinda need some rain. We haven't had much to speak of at all since the hurricane. We're dry! But, I'm mostly ok with it! We haven't had a dry winter in quite some time. Of course we haven't really had a winter in quite some time.

Back to work tomorrow.

And dad fell again last night... Nothing more than a few extra bruises...and he's always so cheerful no matter what that this is just going to break my heart.

Gotta get busy making calls and appointments...:(

Sending big hugs for you all :hugs You have done amazing by them, taking them after the hurricane and looking after them in-between working, DH, the farm and yourself. But it sounds like it really would be best for all of you if you can find them more round-the-clock care now.

It's a bit late now, but for the smell, spraying vinegar over areas that had spills like that helps a great deal with the odours.

Ah, thanks @ Sumi! Thanks for the vinegar tip too - I'll try to keep that in my memory banks in case I ever need it again!
