Parasites are terrible down here.... then when you throw in some resistance it's a wonder any goat lives. It's not so bad the years we have a drought, lol. But, lately we haven't had anything but rain.

Geeze, how many Nubian does do I have.... um...I think seven? Red, Spot, Snippet, Emily, Patch, Not-Patch, and Cameo. Kiko's are not known for huge babies so if he doesn't throw any monster babies I'll probably eventually even breed some of the Kinder gals to him. Then those babies back too Dusty and/or the Big Kinder buck.

Haven't quite figured out the actual breeding plan yet, lol. Heck, lately I haven't been in charge anyway, lol. What makes me think any plan I put together won't be sabotaged by the boys!?!?

Just got in after about a 10 hour day outside.... I LOVE IT! Can't wait until I can do it full time. Geeze, if it weren't for needing insurance I'd sooooo retire tomorrow!

Got a few things done in the garden. Lots of weeding and a little planting. Spaghetti squash seeds in the ground. Moved some tubs outside of the garden fence for some more winter type squashes. Hope they can flourish out there. Pulled tons of weeds that the goats enjoyed. Strange thing I noticed this year - and I'm not complaining! Generally my worst weed problem comes from Spiny Pig Weed. I haven't pulled even ONE Spiny Pig Weed. I have no idea why - but I'm ok with it.

I have ONE more day off... just one. I'm trying to decide whether to run a bunch of errands and go see the old folks or stay home and work. Ehhhhh - I really can't waste the opportunity to spend another day in the garden. Not that the other stuff would be a "waste" of time but I can do them no matter what the weather. I can run errands on my lunch hour and see mom and dad too. So, it's decided more gardening/goat stuff tomorrow.

Yay! Enjoy your garden /goat day!

And a kiko/kinder.... Must see this. You're going to have some wild mixes.

What about Kiko? LOL

Glad that you are getting some serious time outside. You sound restored to your happy self. Spring is a renewal of the earth, a promise of things to come, and you got to work on some of those promises!

Yep - this absolutely IS renewal for me. DH came home today - took one look at me and said "you're dirty!" LOL - yep I was. Not only dirty but pretty darn stinky too...covered with tiny, dirty goat prints all over. Three of the four little babies love me....the fourth... not so much. I swear if I'm standing still they are jumping all over me and if I'm sitting in a lawn chair they're trying their best to jump in my lap. the whole time Conan is giving them the evil eye and trying to ram them cuz they shouldn't be messing with his bottle bearer!

Any chance the pigweed was affected by the weather? Cold, snow, rains? Maybe it drowned!:idunno

Glad you have had a few days of "fun in the sun".

Maybe the cold - maybe the wet - whatever it was it worked! Yay!

Started the day with a call from mom's hospice nurse. Seems her breathing was a bit slow and apnic last night. Mom has always snored a lot which leads to very poor quality sleep. (Sidebar: I actually went all the way through the polysomnography course at the college. Not really sure why I thought staying up all night and watching people sleep was a good idea, lol. I got into clinicals and decided I had made a really poor decision!!) But...I digress. Anyway - the Hospice nurse goes and checks on her and just finds that she's very sleepy. She's cognizant and answers all questions appropriately. The staff at AL also noted that she's not urinating as much as usual. GIVE HER MORE FLUIDS! I'll go at lunch tomorrow and see how things are going.

Been tilling in the buck pen area this morning. Perfect timing on tilling... ground is soft and breaks up great. I needed to get that done before forecasted storms hit tonight. So, I went through all my seeds and pulled out a bunch of old seeds....kale, collards, kohlrabi, spinach, radishes, carrots, beets.... can't even remember it all. I'm going to toss all of those old seeds out there and hope something comes up that will make a little area the bucks can browse. I'm gonna do another section in just a few minutes and have DH stop on his way home at TS and see if they have any grass seed. If so, I'll toss that in the other section. The third section I may still plant some "people" stuff which can be shared with the goats if it does ok and produces extra.

Oh....have two broody hens now. Yay - not. One of them is probably at least half way through. I never write it down... The other one just got serious yesterday. I need more chickens like I need more goats, lol.
