I got up and went to work this morning with all good intentions. After a couple hours I started feeling a little puny and because I have over 300 hours of sick time built up - I came home.

It's a miracle, I started feeling better almost immediately! Soooo, I went out and put 16 of my almost 60 tomato plants into the new raised beds. After watching the weather report this evening, I went out and covered my brand newly planted babies. Compared to a lot of the country it's not that bad here - but a low of 33 might be too much for my 'mater babies.

I've got a gal coming in friday to look at a couple bucks that she's interested in. Many years ago, we used to show together. She still shows and I don't... Anyway, she'll be spending the night Thursday night. Soooo, I called some other folks in the goat show world and invited them for dinner Thursday night too. Par-taaaaaaaaaaay! We're all off on Friday so we can have a nice little dinner party.

I'm thinking panko and parmesan crusted chicken breasts with a tomato basil sauce, roasted root vegetables with olive oil and balsamic vinegar, a nice salad, and some garlic bread. And, sugar-free cheesecake for dessert. It's been a long time since I've had a dinner party.
Ideas? Suggestions?
I just love it when miracles happen. Sorry about your goslings such a bummer. :hugs

I hear ya on the rosettes! You can't eat them. Well, I guess you could, but they wouldn't be very filling or satisfying.

WBF - we missed you!

Dinner was a success and guests stayed until 11p....geeze I'm not used to being up that late. Hope I didn't appear rude when I started yawning, lol! It was nice though - we don't entertain very often. I guess we should do it more. I have a tendency to be a hermit, and if I don't force myself out of that habit it becomes even more comfortable to me. People just exhaust me sometimes! But, I did enjoy the party.

I sold one of the bucks. I've been out of the pygmy goat show world for over 10 years, so it's very flattering to have people who still show come to me to buy show animals. It's kind of a win-win for me. They buy the animals, they feed 'em, the conditon 'em, they haul 'em to shows and they win with them. The goat carries my herd name, so I'm still getting exposure, still selling show goats and I don't have to do all the work! Ta-dah!

I've got a doe that's due to kid in early May. The lady who bought the buck told me that she wants first pick of her kids. Alrighty! The other couple that was here ALSO want to be notified when she kids. That shouldn't be a problem because I think she's gonna have a 'litter' - she's huge!

I think I'll get out in the garden today. I want to plant a little more, but dang, I'm just about out of room! I need more space already! I've got some more area that I can till up - but we're so dry that the ground is like concrete right now. I heard that we've got a probability of rain early next week, but I'll be back at work by then. Why does it always work that way?

Not getting anything accomplished sitting here so I'd better get outside. Have a good one, everybody!

We had one of those really nice days. I started my day a couple hours before DH did. I had coffee and got in the hot tub pretty early this morning. My back has been sore since last weeks' fence building episode, so a good soak did me a world of good.

When DH finally got up, we finished a project that we started yesterday afternoon. Poor baby, he was building me some planter boxes and using the finish nail gun and managed to hit his finger...gee whiz, lol. Thankfully, it isn't tooooooooooo bad. My self-preservation instinct must be stronger than his, cu I' have a healthy respect for a nail gun and keep my hands far, far away from danger. He's ok, but he's pretty darn sore.

Anyway, he finished the flower boxes that we wanted to hang from the fence. Then we went to Home Depot this morning and bought some cascading petunias and verbena to put in them. Just trying to beautify the place a little bit. I think it looks great. Let me see if I remember how to post a pic....

I think they turned out great!

It does look nice.

And, is that a critter on the other side of the fence? I can't get a good enough look at it to figure it out.

Looks nice sis! I can relate to DH's incident. I once nailed my index finger to the top wall trim in a trailer house i was working on. I proceeded to cut the trim with a pair of tin snips, and pulled the whole thing out, but it took two pulls, and I thought I was gonna puke  Mine was pretty sore for a few days. Tell him soak it in peroxide for 5 minutes. Just fill a shot glass if it's his finger...the peroxide really helps.
