My wallet is quite a bit thinner tonight... got 4 new tires for my truck. Somebody told me those 20inchers were gonna be 'spensive - they were. But, my baby deserved new shoes so now she's got 'em - and I'll feel better driving my grand kids around.

I've now got 31 quail eggs and 14 chicken eggs in the incubator. Waiting game has started - again.

We had pig for dinner...I'm just so impressed at how GOOD these AGH's taste. I took ground pork, added some taco seasoning with lots of chopped garlic and onions and fully intended to stuff some peppers from the garden. But, that was tooo time consuming so I just layered it all together, added some grated cheddar and Monterey jack to the first layer and then added some cream cheese and cheddar to the top layer and popped it in the oven until the cheese melted. Topped it with some chopped jalapeno and a bit of our cream... oh my! Really tasty - I love pig!

He said sell him at this age, in his prime, before he gets too old and nobody will want to buy him.

Years back, a friend who had 2 senior goats left from herd he sold, friendly & kept to live out. Thinking they were both in mid teens they would be done. One buck & one doe -- they seemed happy & old. Next Spring, she presented a kid!!

...I'm just so impressed at how GOOD these AGH's taste.

Darned you are just going to MAKE me buy more! I do not miss the pigs but, do miss the great pork.

As to eggs and old hens. Yep, I'm there. Feel I will need a few replacements for Spring and have TWO broody hens. I am torn between setting eggs -- both have hatched before and are great mons -- and waiting to just buy what I want, vice BYH. Did get some younger, full old style RIR but they seem to be eating their eggs!! They stopped laying when I moved them, now either eating or just ready to start lay again....I'm baffled. Lovely birds, would set their eggs if any. Not wanting to feed oldies all winter & not wanting to butcher right now. May wait a month until cooler. Still 90s here. Plus still working heavy hours. Can hardly wait for a slow down. But so much rain that I will spend days try to cut butt deep grass.

What terrible decisions we have!

It was really good and sooo easy! Also a great way to use up some peppers - even though I was too lazy to stuff them I just cut them into strips and layered 'em in there.

DH IS working too much at the new job - but hopefully will be caught up within the next week or so. How much you wanna bet that when he's all caught up and coasting they'll dump another big project on him? Usually works that way.

Feel like I'm not doing anything SS these days. It's that time of year when nothing exciting is going on...except goat breeding. Some eagerly anticipated and some ARGH!!! It'll be interesting to see what arrives in January. I only wanted to breed a few goats for January delivery - but Dusty had other plans. The stinker! (literally)

Trying to work out a time to snag the grands for a visit before they go back to school on the 27th. Not sure if I can get off the time I want to cuz my co-worker beat me to the punch asking for vacation time. Grrrr! Since there are only two of us now it might be harder to get the time - even though this is the best time for us because we're between summer and fall sessions.

I bought more electric fence supplies today. I've gotta get the male pigs put away - I'm done with this indiscriminate breeding going on around here. Geeze! So, I'll do one half of the buck pen down low to keep pigs in and I'll do the other half of the buck pen up high to keep Dusty in. It'll be a two-fer!

Pigs are loving the free corn - but it doesn't really seem to be fermenting...it's just swelling up with all the water it's absorbing. I set out some milk a couple days ago to sour so I can pour it in the water and help the process along. Probably do that tomorrow and hope it helps. Or maybe I should be ok with it not going 'icky' too fast.

sour corn is great stuff for pigs. That's what I finish mine on.
