Collards are so much better after a couple frosts. Sweetens them up. They actually do well with snow cover, it insulated them to a degree.

i'm not experienced with cold damage and cabbage, but don't be too surprised if it takes a few days for damage to show up. i say this because i had some pole lima beans growing on my fence and they got some cold a bit below freezing and they looked ok the next day, but a few days later they didn't look so good after all. i hope better for you. go cabbage! i love cabbage.
