It is absolutely disgustingly muddy outside. Hate it, but at least our temps have been mild all week. I think tomorrow we're supposed to get more rain. I dunno where we're gonna put it....no more room for rain!

I'm watching the girls pretty closely now. Could be a matter of days before the first kids hit the ground. Could be longer, lol. I've been doing this a long time and know that the girls will deliver whenever they darn well feel like it. Four of the six kidding stalls are ready for use. They're raked out and bedded and the gates are closed so the pens can't get dirty. Two left to clean and bed, but I'll wait until it looks like they'll be needed. I've got iodine and towels ready to go too.

I'm using these last days before the kidding crazies start to get the quail all sorted. Some quail colors can be sexed by feather color. Some can't. I'm not fond of the ones who hide their identity! I've spent some time hanging out around the pens waiting for the males to crow - or sometimes I see them engaged in "the act". As soon as I positively identify a male I grab 'em and leg band 'em. I had a lot of males. Past tense "had" because I now have 10 less males. They 're residing in my freezer.

DH is doing pretty well these days. He walks around the house with no aids. He uses a cane when we go anywhere else and walked into the grocery store with me last week. A couple weeks ago he forgot his cane so had to walk, just holding my arm, into his docs office. Woo Hoo! It's so nice! Now I have to retrain him to do a little more for himself. He gets up to get his own drink of water now...fixed his own lunch yesterday and he's in the kitchen right now unloading the dishwasher.

It was dark around here for a long time but the light at the end of the tunnel is getting brighter every day.
I am so glad for you and him,, you have had a long haul
