k0xxx, that sounds like the scam this guy was up to. He probably stole the shed himself (he said he used to deliver them for home depot when he was younger) used if for a couple of years and now wants to sell it....without a paper trail.

Well, I just learned a valuable lesson about "used shed buying".

Well 500 is a great price, but with a reciept, somethings wrong. He could have just wrote you an as is, no refunds reciept, or something like that. We have had folks try to load up buildings in the middle of the night, but without the proper equipment, its harder than it looks, especially with a sizeable building. However, if he used to do it, then he knows just how.
A 12x 15 of our make would run about 3500, non insulated. But its an all metal construction with a 2 year warrenty, mouse and waterproof. There are a lot of other companies around here that make them, but (without sounding too braggy)ours are the Cadillac of portable buildings. BTW, we also do doghouses, wellhouses, deer blinds, loafing sheds, custom stalls, bunkhouses, cabins, and custom metal trim fabrication and welding(another shameless plug lol).
BBH, if you ever wanted to build a shed, I'd be happy to offer any advice or pointers.

Thank you! Those sound so nice.

This shed really wasn't what I wanted, however at that price I could have added on a few covered stalls to each side etc. to make it sorta what I wanted.

What I am going to do is continue to save up for is a nice (small) pole barn. I think the horses can wait until fall when I will have enough saved for what I really want.

I am really still in shock that so many sheds get "lifted". Amazing, and sad.

Sorry BBH :hugs that guy sounds like a crook alright and I'm glad you didn't hand over your money. Good for you to listen to your instincts.
I couldn't imagine anyone from anywhere would be offended for you asking for a receipt. Maybe a bit cranky at having to write one out, but never refusing! Maybe you should report him to the police or someone, just because he's suspicious.

BBH, sorry to hear the shed fell through. It never ceases to amaze me how dishonest people can be.

Your horses don't NEED a barn- barns are for the owner's convenience. I had my horses here for 3 winters before our barn was built- they lived in tents. The garage kind of quonset hut shaped tents that people use for garages, one small one for the elders, and one large one for the rest of the herd. It worked well, even in sub zero temps, it was marginally warmer under the tent than outside.

The place we bought our chicken palace from sells and ships pre-cut kits, although we bought ours made and had it delivered:
