When animals get transported across country I imagine it won't take long to spread parasites, just like disease. We don't have a problem with heartworm here, but a few years ago they used to say we had NONE. They don't say that anymore.

Well, the goats are still alive.

However, one of the chicks is not. Seems that they aren't bomb proof so when you toss a bale into the goat pen and the goats come charging, the chicks better get out of the way or they'll get trampled.... :/

Poor thing must have suffered some internal injuries 'cause it was just laying there breathing heavily. little g and I walk up to it, he says

"Aww....not feeling well, little fella?......Mom, you need to chop its head off."

What a farmer.

April is looking great, but she's not happy with me sticking a needle in her twice a day and shoving crap down her throat each evening. But she is happy to get her own grain bowl; I'm letting her eat outside while I milk Fudgie and giving her probios mixed into her grain. After I'm done milking she and Fudgie go back into the pen where it's a free for all with the rest of the grain.

Anyhoo - seems I've caught something, I just don't know what. I'm super tired and have no energy. Sometimes have a headache/body aches and sometimes don't. Just pushing through the day until I get home, then it's tend to the ill and go to bed.

I think the past few months of go go go have caught up to me.

She still appears hunched a bit and seems to favor the right leg, but she no longer scuffles her feet as she walks - she picks them up to walk. She actually played a little yesterday morning and headbutted Fudgie, which I took as a good sign. Pee and Poo are normal, so if I could get her to put weight on after all this she'll be one good looking gal.

Maybe the stress is making you sick?

So glad she seems "out of the woods".....these are all just lessons learned, my friend, right? Thank you for letting me learn along with you. You helped my goats so much by posting your concerns about yours.

Hugs from Molly, Ginger and Emilee. :hugs :hugs :hugs

So glad my issues are helping you prevent your goats from going through the same thing :smack

Just kidding, SD! I'm glad to be of service...after all, if someone doesn't talk about a problem you can't come up with solutions and if someone else has that same problem they'd never know what to do!

At least you are already seeing improvement. That is definitely a good sign.

So, you might recall we were in the midst of refinancing and getting a little bit o moola so we could build a barn or two. Big G really wants his version of a garage, which isn't your standard garage. He more or less wants 4 walls with 2 garage-like doors to store his farm equipment in and this 'garage' will be located way away from the house....cars still have to live outside apparantly.

Anyway - we're all approved now just waiting on the money to go into the bank and he talked about stopping by the water works place to start the process there. I asked exactly how many buildings he was looking to build and where...when it got me thinking.

I'd love to have a room to store my soap stuff...maybe make a little store out of it. I used to want a milk room, but now that I have the milk barn I don't need a milk room anymore.

So I told him that in the process of building these buildings I want some type of room to use as a store-ish thing, to which he politely denied.

He explained what he thinks he wants and where, and one of the places is near a blue shed in the back yard - actually right in the spot the blue shed sits. This is something we've discussed before and I have no problem with putting a building where the blue shed is. It'll have an overhang for the cows and, what he doesn't know, is that since this particular part of the yard/field was somewhat fenced in for Meatball's birth I plan to use that section for a breeding pen when I bring the bucks over for my goats. An overhang of some sort will be just perfect for keeping them out of the weather. hee hee hee

glenolam: *smoke starts coming out her ears as the wheels start to turn* So, what are you going to do with the blue shed, then, dear husband of mine?

Big G: Huh. Good question. Guess you can use that.

glenolam: Wow, really? Thanks, dear husband of mine! Thanks for thinking of it!

Big G: Hey, no problem. Anything for you.

HA! In a few months I'll have a nice 8x12 barn to showcase my soaps!
