I got a quart from Ginger tonight and another one this morning! That is a record for her. And then she immediately went and stood next to the kid's stall wall and moo'd for them and her udder got huge again within seconds. And I have to milk one side at a time with two fingers and go to the other side of the stand for the other side, as they stick out east and west. Sheesh! Good thing she is CUTE! And a sweetie. It is only day two so we have yet to see what she can do.

And I milk whenever I feel like it. They never know when I am coming for them.....bwahahahahahaha!!!! :D

Yeah, well I guess we will be building a nighttime stall for them this weekend - just ran it by hubby and he agreed.

We have an ethnic market like that here. I could also charge to let people slaughter the animal here if I wanted to (not ready for that yet, may never be....unless someone REALLY misbehaves! Mr. Bucky..... ) as they often want the animal slaughtered in a certain way, such as halel, which has a lot of anti-cruelty rules so I like the idea. Yep, it makes a good motivational tool, doesn't it? :p

There are a few Boer goat farms popping up in the immediate area.

I will admit. I am not a milk drinker. Ever. It always tasts sour to me. No matter how fresh or what kind it always tastes sour.

But I ran out of freezer zip lock bags so I've been putting Fudgie's milk into quart canning jars for now and took a little swig of her milk from Friday.....

Tastes just like milk! Sour and all! A few seconds after the swig I did have a goaty aftertaste but it wasn't at all bad.

This weekend was as hectic as ever. If you haven't guessed, I don't do computers on weekends much. It's my "me" time if you will.

Saturday I spent at a very local horse farm for their first annual Easter event. They had an egg hunt and horse drawn carriage rides along with some local vendors, including myself. I brought along my soap craft table and, since it was a petting zoo type event, also brought Eloise and Fudgie. They were certainly hits of the show! And I will say that having them there brought a bunch of sales - I was able to show people Eloise who's milk was in all of the soaps I had on the table as well as show them Fudgie, who's currently in milk and now contributing to future batchs! They all loved meeting the gals and then smelling the soaps made from their milk.

Saturday afternoon I made two batches of soap, Lavender and Patchouli. I would have made more except I only have 3 really good molds and 1 mold I hate, but one recipe uses 2 loaf molds so I need 4 total. Any hoo - I had all intentions of making 2 more batches tonight (including Anise ;) ) but our day turned into a family day and who could argue with that.

We started out by going south to New London - someone put an ad up on craigslist for a 6x10 Kloter Farms shed that was barely 2 years old for a freaking cheap price. We went this morning to see it - we can't take it until mid May because they're not moving until that day, but it is for real and is INCREDIBLE. So....the purpose of this shed you ask???

A MILK ROOM! It's perfect! The stand will fit in there so nicely and I can build some over head shelves to hold all my 'stuff'. Big G even chimed in and said during kidding season we could even transform it into a kidding stall! I'm wicked excited and can't wait the 4 weeks until I get it home.

Other than that, it's normal as normal can be....tomorrow I'll be full of wit and energy. For now, I'm still nursing my aching forearms and hands with an 'ice pack'...
