Lovin' The Homestead
The bottom is that green coated wire in the 'open' part. The 'closed' part (where it says The Guinea Hen House) is all plywood and actually has 3 nesting boxes inside - they just never get used!TanksHill said:That's nice. Is the bottom wire or solid?? How old are your birds?
I am moving mine out this weekend. They will be 2 weeks. I don't care. I am going to tarp my tractor and run an extension cord for the light.
If they can't deal then that's there problem..
These chicks are/were day olds when we got them last weekend so they're about a week old or just under now. Some even had the egg tooth still. But I have an extension cord that goes inside the house through a little hole we made above the small door w/the tractor on it and the heatlamp is clamped to the ceiling. All cords and such are out of reach of the chicks - for now anyway. Once they get big enough to do without heat we'll take it all out so they can't peck at anything.
We had a nasty storm the other night and no one was lost so I'd say this set up is working for the time being.
