Between Goodwill, garage sales and the used book store, I seldom pay full price for a book.

I'm the same way... that is why I dont have the Sally F. book, you can only buy it new. :( I do have a beautiful library of used books though. :)

You have inspired me, I am going to load up my 12 year old daughter today and go Goodwillin' for summer books.

(I have a hard time getting into the summer mood because we almost had to light a fire last night and this morning! Burrr!)

I'm bad about being willing to pay full price for a book. The last book I bought was The Backyard Homestead, though. On the other hand, I have been good about going to the library. I'm part of a book club that meets and is sponsered by our library. Usually, while I'm there I'll grab a couple of books for the kids too.

Those are some great finds! I only buy new books when I have a 40% off coupon and then only a book that I've been wanting/needing for a while and can't find used. Like Carla Emery's book. I read her "Recipe Book" about 20 years ago (borrowed from the library) and always wanted to own it for reference.
I have tons of books and old Organic Gardening and Mother Earth magazines, but I have them all over the place and in boxes. I wish I had a nice library to keep them in.
I recently got the book "Keep Chickens" for 50 cents. The price tag on it was $16.79. It was in great condition too. I actually have the book already, but can't find my copy :/
I find the greates children's books at Goodwill also.
Other recent Goodwill book finds for me are:

"Fiesta! A celebration of Latin Hospitality", here I am in California and don't, er.. didn't have a Mexican cookbook. So now I do (sort of)and the recipes sound great. Can't wait to try some of them.
"American Cooking, The Eastern Heartland", A Time Life Book. This one tells about the history of the regional foods, has great illustrations of old timey stuff and recipes, like a Sampler of Folk wines.
"Natural Fragrances, Outdoor Scents for Indoor Uses", which I found interesting, but not nearly as usefull as I had hoped. But considering I only paid $1.00 for it, I am happy with it.
The above books were $1.00 each. Makes me want to go again today. :p:lol:

I saw a really neat one that I'm going to go back for too. :p

I agree. I was shocked when I discovered, that there was not even a pamphlet on Mexican food in my house. So I just had to remedy that situation. Usually I would just ask my co-workers how to make something. But I haven't worked at an office for so long. And I never wrote the recipes down. Most of them were pretty easy to do anyway.
Ok, I'll have to go back and see if I can find some more Mexican cookbooks at Goodwill.

BTW our library has two book sales a year. It is a fundraiser for them. They gather donated books all year and then sell them once in the spring and once in the fall. Last time I went, I took my then 7 year old niece. We got a bag of books for $4.00 each. You can stuff a lot of books into one paper bag.
