Has anyone built their own house?

When I build (note: I am saying WHEN these days! ) I am planning on a mostly electric house. I think it is the wave of the future and with possible solar or wind power - just thinking ahead. I would best like an out door wood furnace with electric backup, tankless electric hot water heaters and a PROPANE stove and dryer! Some things are better done with gas whenever possible. ... Of course I would ALSO like a wood cook stove!

Ohh I LOVE our propane stove, we have an electric dryer though. We usually use good old sun 'n' wind for drying though, even in the winter we use the covered porch to dry on.

I want solar for my chicken house because hooking it up to mains hydro is going to cost a fortune.

I am actually to the point of being SICK and TIRED of dreaming about it. I am ready to jump in and get going!

Of course we still have bills to pay off and work to finish on THIS house before it could be sold ... and job stuff...

Then again I am just plain tired of living in the city!
