Hi there,
I got to this website because backyardchickens was down and I was redirected here.
Looks like a fun forum!
I'm Annie, 62 years young, and I bought a house last year with my son in Portland, Oregon. I have 3 grandchildren. I am on disability for Multiple Chemical Sensitivities. I travel to Spain once a year to do long distance walking as part of my therapy - usually take 6 to 8 other people with me to pay my expenses. I just got 4 hens a few weeks ago and am having fun learning how to care for "city chicks." I grew up on a farm, but life then was simpler. Nobody coddled animals. They lived or they died. That included farm dogs and cats, which my grandmother had 36 of, all living outdoors. Their job was to keep the rodent and pigeon population down.
My grandmother used to say I was born in the wrong century. I enjoy growing my own food, canning, drying, fiber arts such as quilting, sewing, needlefelting, and crocheting.
I guess that's enough for now.
Glad to have found this forum.
Give a shout out if you're from Portland - we can share a cup of coffee!
