Forgot the other good news:
My little boy goat was castrated before the vet went on vacation. He will be two weeks post surgery by the time we bring him home. Phew!

Story from DH:
Last night he was locking up the birds and doing a beak/bill count since he had let them out to free range all afternoon. One of the GLWs flew up to the top of the nest boxes like she always does and promptly lay an egg. It rolled down the slope of the nest box and broke on the floor at DH's feet. He didn't even have time to react and catch it! Silly girl!
Ugh, I should go out and plant something but it is close to 90 degrees and I don't wanna go out there!

Ergh I know the feeling. Yesterday I started moving our raspberries and blackberrieso out of the front garden and into a teensy dug garden I had prepared (with Perlite LOL because it fell in) and all are doing great except one. The heat really took its toll on a younger raspberry shoot :( and now the whole plant is kind of droopy. Oh well, we'll see.

I'm holding off planting the blueberries today. It's just too hot. I watered everything on the deck and moved a few things under the awning. Everything else looks happy as clams.

Awww! I hope your boy feels better :(
Just do what you can, from everything I've read & experienced, there is always something left undone.

You've almost got goats!

His temperature is normal at the moment. He's rapidly loosing his voice. But he's not feeling all that bad.
I am so glad I'm not at field day. I'd have been out in this heat all day. I feel so bad for them all!
We will be doing some things for the goats in a temporary way, like not completing the interior wall more than we have to right away. There will be lots of things that need to be tweaked as we go. We're still tweaking the chicken and duck set ups!

Heard from DH, he's got confirmation that he is working at school this summer! Huge load off my mind!! He does maintenance.
Still waiting on the dishwasher. It's getting hotter and hotter. I've got the fans going everywhere.
I'm just puttering around the house and taking care of DS. :)

Yeah, aside from DH having a summer job that's the best news! Now if it would just cool off out there so we can get some stuff done this afternoon.
Even if DH doesn't have band rehearsal tonight he's going to want to put in the dishwasher. Can't blame him. I wished he email back that he had an answer there....

The technician is coming out to give me an estimate for converting to propane for cooking! In a half hour or so! Woohoo! Though I don't need a stove to cook today...just put the pan on the sidewalk...
