Remember, when we meet at Paul's, my name is MONIQUE, not FREE!!!!! Just go with it if I call you Henrietta.....

Maybe we should meet at the Charlton Plaza on the Pike and get into one car....are you bringing a tarp or some adult Depends and duct tape? (For the goat, not for you.....unless you think you will tinkle with joy once you choose your goat! )

In out in out in out. Okay, breathing.
We have a system. DH uses the hose to fill the chicken waterer and duck pool in the morning, then brings it up to me on the deck and I water the plants. The borage was a little wilty last night night but perked right up with a quick extra drink. I hope to get a few things in the ground here and there but that requires more fencing for protection from birds and dogs. And the neighbor's cat that's been coming through the backyard fence. Silly thing, the golden almost caught it the other day.
I have been called Henrietta in public before at the CT Chickenstock and at a fair where I met in the infamous Marlinchaser. Of course I called him Marlin all afternoon too. So I'll answer. There aren't likely to be any other Henriettas around anyway! As for bringing a goatie home, I'm not sure we'll be ready to do more than meet and greet and decide. But I suppose we could bring the Volvo with a tarp in back. I guess it will depend on whether the kids are home. I'm sure DH will say it is too much too soon but we shall see!
We can meet you Fre-Monique. I'll keep you all posted. Thanks for the support.
How to do speech therapy with a student when I have goats coming out my ears............?

Your potted garden looks nice. We have a lot of our plants in pots still too. We are doing our annual wait for the tractor guy
And now we have rain

So far I managed to stick to just having 2 goats. ;) We'll see how long that lasts. I don't know which of my goats is the nubian cross and which the alpine cross. The nubians are supposed to be mellower and noisier. Well one is mellow, the other noisy. :p Oh well. I like them both.

I can hardly wait for pics of your goats :weee

So, I had a number of strange dreams just before the alarm went off. The most memorable was this:
DH and I had cleared the area where the goat pen will be to bare earth. Don't know why we did but we did. We had just finished getting the fencing up when the nextdoor neighbor was at the fence looking concerned. DH had headed to the basement to put away tools. Neighbor called over, "are you moving the chickens to this side?" Uh oh. I called DH back for support. Me:"Um, no. We're getting a couple of goats and they're going here." Her: "OH NO!!! You just can't!!! I'll have pneumonia constantly!!! Really, you just can't do that to me!!"
This neighbor is the nice one that we get along with. She did question whether last summer's fly infestation might have been due to our chickens but I showed her the coop on the spur of the moment and she saw it was clean and had no flies. We had them in the house too but not in the coop. Her DH cleans up after their dog constantly to avoid flies. Now if I had a Newfie whose poops were the size of my pug I'd clean up constantly too. But my dogs go in the woods on the otherside of the yard where we can't even find them and we rarely go. Anyway she wanted to know if we bagged up the chicken coop shavings and threw them away. :ep Nope, DH throws them in a pile in the back corner to compost.....

Love the pics of your garden - that is about what ours looks like at this point as well. A week to go and we'll be planting.

Thanks! Ours will be staying pots. Goat projects have overtaken garden fence and tree thinning projects. Most of our sun is on the deck.
I do have the blueberry bushes to put in and I've got one bed where I could put in something if we throw up some temporary fencing. It's 3'x8' and gets sun mostly in the morning and into the early afternoon but then the sun goes down below the trees on the western side of the yard and it's shady.

We are not going to be ready by this weekend. :( We got half the fence posts in. We'll try to get the rest in tomorrow but DH has band rehearsal and the new dishwasher is being delivered so he's going to want to put that in. Guess I can't complain about that, huh? Thursday we can get the fencing up but DH still has to build the gate and the separating wall. He's at Home Depot right now looking for gate parts. I wish there was more I could do. DS stayed home with my mom today. He had a fever of 102 when he woke up. His throat is a little sore but that's about it. I was hoping he'd be better but it's still hovering around 101. He's not allowed to go back to school until he's been fever free for 24 hours. So rather than go in to work for Field Day when I won't be able to see students anyway I'm staying home with him. It's supposed to reach 93 and they haven't canceled Field Day. The gym teacher who organized it signed my supervisor up to run a station but she has to be at the high school for meetings all day. I was going to be moved into her spot but there's no way I would survive being out there from 9:15 to 10:45 then 11:15 to 2:05 with no breaks in between. No way! So while I'm sad DS isn't feeling well, I'm glad for a reason not to go in. I knew at 2:00 he still had a fever so I let the principal and gym teacher know I wouldn't be there.
I can get stuff done in the house and I can clean out the coop so we can be ready to get the wall in. That's about it.
