Well, finished the week of work but I'm totally frustrated. I can do the job and enjoy it. Probably is the Director of Special Services still hasn't ironed out the supervisor issue and I can't actually work with students until that happens. I was assigned to shadow the other speech assistant all the this week. Well, this week is over and I've left him and email and voice mail asking what I am supposed to do Monday and gotten no response. I'm at a loss. I will show up at the school where the other assistant will be and continue shadowing but it's really stupid for me to keep doing that when what I need to be doing is gathering the names of the students that will be on my caseload, meeting with my supervisor, prioritizing the students' goals and getting to work. AAAaaahhhh!
Rant over. I 'm thrilled to be working again but I need some settlement with all the unknowns. I have to arrange transportation for my son and I can't do that until I know when and where I will be. I don't do well going day by day.

You sound like me. I like definites, planning and organization. I hate to be left dangling.

I hope you are feeling better. It's a bad time to be sick with Thanksgiving and Christmas planning coming up.

Thanks punkin, I have a little residual cough but I'm sleeping through the night now. It's just the stress from work that's making me a little nuts. I haven't even started planning Thanksgiving yet and we're doing it here! What was I thinking??? Oh well, it's just us, my parents and my brother. His girl friend just had her gall bladder out and won't be able to make it. No pressure.

Thanks, I did get an email from him today. I'm going to shadow for the two and a half days of school we have this upcoming week which is what I expected. It's not only the frustration of following her, although she's been great, it's that I wasn't completely confident I could still do this job after 17 years out of the field. Now that I know I'm capable I want to DO IT!! LOL. In the end it should all be fine although I may end up with a supervisor who is resentful. But I'm a pretty easy person to get along with and hopefully that will work itself out too. I just plan on being pleasant and working hard to do the best job I can!

Argh. Heard on the news last night that there was a fire in the building that houses the administrative offices for our school district. That means my new boss won't even be in today and probably not tomorrow. Most of the damage was in a storage area but there is smoke of course. So this means either I will hear nothing all week or he will be on the road visiting schools and he may actually show up where I am today. I'm not holding my breath. It would be nice if he'd visit the people he needs to talk to work out my supervision, etc. Hmm, we'll see!
I'm worried about where my check will end up. I left a message yesterday telling them which school I'll be in tomorrow but it was after hours and no one will be there to even get the message. I was really hoping to have it before the weekend, not after. It's only for two days but still.....

He definitely does. I just wish he'd had his ducks in a row before hiring me.
