That was a first! They played 4 innings with either the sun shining or rain showers. We even had a rainbow. Then someone got the tornado warning on their cell phone and the clouds got really creepy looking. We all took off for home! Everybody is fine and the warning has passed. This does not typically happen in Connecticut!!

The daily milking update. This evening Donki was so h*ll bent on getting her grain, etc. that after two tries she hopped right up on that milking stand and got her head in place. I could have done it all without DH most likely. She was an angel. It is getting easier each time. She must have really been stressed from the move and change in routine and environment. It is scary how easily I forget that one week ago tonight I didn't have goats yet!

Got my first request for free milk..........
From exactly the person I expected to get it from. :duc
I jus told her if I had any left after the family drank it and I made cheese I might have a small jar for her to try. Heavy emphasis on the IF THERE'S ANY LEFT. Implication being I'm not milking a goat for the whole darned community!!!!!!!!!!
Oh, and can I just say, mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmilk! Yum!

Cure for the mooches: After saying what you did, you can add, "Actually, I do need someone to cover for me when we go on vacation for two or three weeks. I could start your training with picking up manure and cleaning water buckets. When can you come over at 5:45 AM to start milking training? Most people are proficient with all the steps within two weeks or so. I'd be more than happy to let you keep all the milk you get when you milk."

And it can be easily adjusted for almost any situation.

Q: Can I have some eggs?

A: Sure! I'm so glad you asked! I really need someone to clean the coop, the crap is almost three feet deep under the roosts now and my back has been acting up. When can you come over? Oh, do you have tall rubber boots and a respirator mask?

Q: Oh, I'll take some of those tomatoes if you have extra!

A: Sure! So glad you asked! Chicken poo grows the best tomatoes and I really need someone to clean the coop, the crap is almost three feet deep under the roosts now and my back has been acting up. When can you come over? Oh, do you have tall rubber boots and a respirator mask?

Q: You make feta? Ooooo, I'd like to buy some! I'll give you $3 a pound, since you get the milk for free!

A: Oh, I couldn't take any money from a friend! What I really need is someone to clean my coop......

All good, love it!
BUT, my baby boy Thomas is limping a little this morning :hit
I don't think he was when we let them all out this morning but when I left for work and checked on them he didn't come out of the barn. His left front leg seems stiff and he's not putting full weight on it. I wonder if he slipped on a wet rock and tweaked it? I'm hoping it is something simple like that. I was able to feel it top to bottom and don't notice anything. Hoof seems okay. I'm going to check on him at lunch time and take it from there. Gonna be a long morning worrying. I feel awful about it!!!
